Brilliant...
story of the mind and the heart and how the best love of all incorporates the deepest feelings of the latter and the deepest reflections of the former. Austen at her best.

Beautifully read...and great to knit to!
I enjoy knitting and listening to audiobooks, and this is one of my favorites. The narrator's voice is very pleasant, and the story is, of course, a delight to hear again and again!

Praise for Wanda McCaddon
I had to pick my way through a lot of narrators before settling on McCaddons voice talents. Believe me when I say that of the selection available, this is the one to choose.

Wanda McCaddon is wonderful
The story is a classic and I have lived it all my life. But the narrator's skill adds so much to the rendering of the story. This rendition of Sense and Sensibility was a true joy to which to listen.

Probably my least favorite Jane Austen novel.
Her writing is genius as usual but the story just wasn't as good as the others. The narrator is brilliant. I sometimes try to imagine doing her job when I hear her read but then realize how hard it actually is.

Glad to go back
It was nice to read a love story without sex or murder or cursing. People haven't really changed that much but writing style has. Worth your time.

Tediously dull yet captivating
like most Victorian authors, Austin builds a minutely detailed picture for her readers. Too much information! would be a modern readers most likely cry. the same story could (and has been) be told With fully a third less wandering about long complex sentences. Still the stories of Eleanor, Marrianne and all have universal appeal. I would suggest watching the Emma Thompson movie first to give you the story in short so you will be willing to stick with Austin to see how the original comes through.

If you love Jane Austen, then read this!
Having already been primed with Pride and Prejudice book and movie made this an easier read. It would have been a struggle if I hadn't already known some of the rules! The story is good and confusing in the vistorian way only Austen can do!

Narrator ruined this book.
I just could not listen to this version of Sense and Sensibility due to the poor narration. The narrator read some passages so quietly that I had to crank up the volume on my Echo...then the narrator would use a loud voice several sentences later, nearly blowing my speakers & bothering my roommate!!! I have tried and failed to delete this version of S&S, but to no avail. Recently, I discovered that Rosalind Pike , (who narrated Pride & Prejudice “ & also appeared in the film of the same name as “Jane” ) has narrated “Sense and Sensibility”. She does a masterful job of everything I’ve seen her in or heard her narrate. I purchased her version of S&S...but so far cannot get my Echo to read it to me, as it starts reading the one I find abrasive, & not Rosalind Pikes version. Very disappointing all around.

Poor Narration
Jane Austin is a most beloved writers and this book is a fine example of her genius. However, the narrator ruined it for me. McCaddon read too fast for my American ear to recognize 18th century British English. I tried listening at .75 and that was too slow.
