Sintesi dell'editore

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a relatively short-term, results-oriented type of psychotherapy, which has a clear goal and uses a more practical approach for tackling psychological disorders. The goal usually is to change behavior or thought patterns that cause people to feel the way they do. CBT is employed for treating a large number of mental ailments or disorders from insomnia to relationship issues to substance abuse or anxiety/depression.

The therapy involves altering an individual's behavior patterns and attitude by concentrating on their thoughts, visual imagery, underlying beliefs and overall attitude (held in the person's cognizance), and impacting the way it processes a person's behavior and manner of dealing with psychological problems.

In this book you will hear about:

  • Understanding Anxiety and Depression
  • What Causes Depression?
  • Types of Depression
  • Treatment and Therapies
  • Types of Anxiety Disorders
  • Difference Between Anxiety and Depression
  • Decoding Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Three Major Approaches to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Dealing With Intrusive Thoughts
  • Where Do The Thoughts Originate?
  • Cognitive Distortions
  • Effective Self-Help Cognitive Behavioral Techniques
  • CBT Techniques for Fighting Depression
  • CBT Techniques for Anxiety

Cognitive behavioral therapy is considered a holistic combination of both behavioral therapy and psychotherapy. While psychotherapy focuses on the significance or the relevance of our early childhood in our thinking and behavioral patterns, behavioral therapy emphasizes on the close equation between our psychological problems, behavior patterns, and thoughts.

unless one has no knowledge of mental health, skip

Unless you have no knowledge of basic mental health, this is not worth purchasing. I was dissapointed after the great reviews, although I was also suspicious of the quality of reviews for an audio book in such a short period.
The individual reading it was great.

This book really delves deep into cognitive behavioral therapy and how you can leverage it to help yourself no matter what obstacle you are trying to overcome. I personally really enjoyed the many applicable quotes from famous people such as Marcus Aurelius and Buddha throughout the book.

nice opinions

This book will challenge you to participate in self improvement. I will use the information that I have to redirect negative thoughts and behaviors that I've recognized I engage in. Also, if you are a parent to a young child this book will probably remind you of your responsibility to positively reinforce good behavior and also redirect behaviors (at least it did for me)! Overall, great book for the price! Check it out! I was asked to review this book by an associate and I truly did give my honest thoughts and opinions.
