Sintesi dell'editore

Hannibal was a great and skillful general who defeated the Romans at Trebia, Lake Trasimenus, and Cannae, and all but took Rome.

G.A. Henty has woven an exciting adventure tale that will keep listeners on the edge of their seats while providing detailed information about the Punic Wars and the political climate in which they took place. This is the perfect way to awaken interest in history and encourage learning.

difficult to listen to

We found the narrator difficult to understand, and when following along in the book we noticed that he missed words altogether. After Dad recovered from his cold, he finished reading this one aloud for us. Loved the story, though. It was written in the 19th century, and therefore don't expect cultural sensitivity and scientific accuracy.

Not so young

I bought this for my 11 year old son because he was interested in ancient Rome and especially Hannibal. However, I did not realize this book was written in 1887. The Victorian era prose was, shall we say, not to his liking. After reading the Publisher's Summary, I had for some reason thought the book was more current. Anyway, I would have liked to have been aware of this before buying it.
