What an eye-opener! I didn't get a chance to buy his book at the conference since there was a long line at the signing. I was reminded by BN to rate this book, and I can't recommend it enough.
A small book with a big package. EQ development made simple. Development strategies, test, retest, e-learning, goal tracking, etc. ALL IN THIS SMALL BOOK!
This is a very practical book that showed me exactly what I need to do to develop my EI skills. Recommending!
A friend of mine suggested this book to me as he really enjoyed it and wanted to see how I scored on the test. I also liked it, and several of the emotional intelligence strategies really hit home. I'm putting them to good use and proud to say that I outscored my friend on the test!
Where does Control Emotions: Emotional Intelligence, The Power of Silence rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
What was one of the most memorable moments of Control Emotions: Emotional Intelligence, The Power of Silence?

Finally, an eq book with practical how-tos and a test that tells me what exactly I should improve! This is the fourth book I've read about this topic--and it is the only one that tells me exactly what to do after telling me why it's important for me to improve these skills. Yes, I get it. It's important. It's brain science. It's self-improvement. But what other books lack is the ability to show me how to increase my emotional awareness and build relationships with people around me.
This is a great book that shows you how to increase your emotional intelligence. It includes an online test which pinpoints the strategies from the book that will increase your EQ the most. I've never seen a book quite like this, and have been getting so much out of applying the wisdom it contains.
As someone who struggles with social interactions, this book points out many things I have not noticed before. It inspired me to focus on mindful interactions while using fun antidotes and scientific experiments.
If you are interested in emotional intelligence this is definately the book for you! It goes through a variety of situation and explains the research behind it in a clear concise and highly readable format.
You can be the smartest person in the world, but if you don't have other qualities like self-esteem or persistence- well, you're not going to be a happy person. Also interesting is that intelligence isn't linked to being a happy person anyway. Case in point, there is no scientific literature linking IQ or academic ability to happiness levels (check out "Finding Happiness in a Frustrating World" for more on this). Anyway, this book does a good job of elaborating on the idea that intelligence will only get you so far in life- and spends its time telling you.
The book's details why IQ is not the sole predictor of success, and it reviews powerful academic studies that show how emotional intelligence impacts important life outcomes. Fifteen years have passed though, and the book has become outdated. It also doesn't show you how to improve your EQ, which is something that researchers have discovered how to do during the last decade.
It offered practical tips to reduce stress and remain calm. I wish it were a longer listen. This skimmed the surface of the topic, but I would benefit more if it were more in-depth. However, this is worth as a start at learning to control your emotions
If you are looking for the first steps towards a plan to change your way of dealing with your emotions this book is a nice start. If the book would be more detailed in some parts, I would put five stars
I find this book to be very helpful. I am very emotional, and that's why I tend to gain weight when I'm sad or stressed because I couldn't handle my emotions well so I resort to food. This book will make you realize how important it is to control your feelings and be mindful of the root of your negative emotions. I'm so glad Ilisten this. Very helpful indeed!
Emotions are extremely hard to control especially when you don't realise what emotions you are having and what they mean for you. This book increases your emotional intelligence by helping you understand your emotions and the psychology behind them. More importantly it helps you learn on how to control your emotions and channel your emotional outbursts in positive ways
