I got a chance to listen to the great book.

What an eye-opener! I didn't get a chance to buy his book at the conference since there was a long line at the signing. I was reminded by BN to rate this book, and I can't recommend it enough.

Fun and informative...

A friend of mine suggested this book to me as he really enjoyed it and wanted to see how I scored on the test. I also liked it, and several of the emotional intelligence strategies really hit home. I'm putting them to good use and proud to say that I outscored my friend on the test!

Any additional comments?

Finally, an eq book with practical how-tos and a test that tells me what exactly I should improve! This is the fourth book I've read about this topic--and it is the only one that tells me exactly what to do after telling me why it's important for me to improve these skills. Yes, I get it. It's important. It's brain science. It's self-improvement. But what other books lack is the ability to show me how to increase my emotional awareness and build relationships with people around me. <br/>

Best book I've read all year

This is a great book that shows you how to increase your emotional intelligence. It includes an online test which pinpoints the strategies from the book that will increase your EQ the most. I've never seen a book quite like this, and have been getting so much out of applying the wisdom it contains.

Great introduction to the subject.

As someone who struggles with social interactions, this book points out many things I have not noticed before. It inspired me to focus on mindful interactions while using fun antidotes and scientific experiments.

Importance of Emotional Intelligence.

You can be the smartest person in the world, but if you don't have other qualities like self-esteem or persistence- well, you're not going to be a happy person. Also interesting is that intelligence isn't linked to being a happy person anyway. Case in point, there is no scientific literature linking IQ or academic ability to happiness levels (check out &quot;Finding Happiness in a Frustrating World&quot; for more on this). Anyway, this book does a good job of elaborating on the idea that intelligence will only get you so far in life- and spends its time telling you.

Emotional Intelligence, a hot topic.

The book's details why IQ is not the sole predictor of success, and it reviews powerful academic studies that show how emotional intelligence impacts important life outcomes. Fifteen years have passed though, and the book has become outdated. It also doesn't show you how to improve your EQ, which is something that researchers have discovered how to do during the last decade.
