The Echoes of Fate Have Been Heard. After a Thousand Years, the Prophecy Has Almost Come to Pass....
The final days of hope have come and gone. The kingdoms of Illian stand on the edge of ruin, threatened by the armies of Valanis. As evil spreads across the land, too few are left to hold the line.
A world away, the children of fire and flame may be the only hope for the realm, but the dragons have been defeated before. Now Verda's future hangs in the balance.
Reeling from their losses, Asher and his companions journey north, trying to outrun the savage Darkakin. A confrontation awaits the ranger but, even with Paldora's gem, he dare not challenge Valanis yet.
The days of the Dragorn have come again, and with them, a relic of the gods has been brought into the light. The knowledge of Verda's true history weighs on Gideon Thorn, and he would see the world rid of the evil that has cursed it from the shadows for so long.
A great change is coming, and a new Age dawns on the horizon. Whether it be the light or the dark that finds victory, one soul will suffer the burden of destiny for all....

Worst fight scene ever!!!!
Aladire and Asher over Nathaniel/💎. Aladire grabs the silver rune sword by the blade, one handed and stops it from penetrating further. (explaination) He had incredible strength. This isn't Rob Roy here this is the super awesome dwarven runw blade that you have been touting throughout the series. Take a physics class, strength = his fingers coming off his hand that much sooner. Then, two senrences after getting half his foot cut off Aladire does an awesome side step maneuver????? This is not the fight scene of a truly acomplished fighter, this is the fight scene of an author who tried to mail it in. If your character is so bad ass then write him so badass don't insult your readers intelligence.

Excellent ending!
Great ending to a great trilogy. Too many books feel so rushed at the end, final boss and after math and whatnot, but this one did it right !

Very mixed feelings.
Soni was editing my review, and this is a review for the first three books Rise of the Ranger, Empire of Dirt and Relic of the Gods. I had broken down why exactly these 3 books a absolute trash, and I bought the fist 3 because they came highly recommended, and after discovering how awful they were(admittedly Rise of the Ranger was actually good enough to keep me interested) but the rest is just filth.
Characters: Boring. every single character is just the blueprint of an archetype. the lone wolf, the looked down upon honorable knight, the warrior elven princess, the princesses guardian. The main character in particular is amusing to me, because he is very obviously a wannabe Geralt of Rivia. Doesn't get along well with others, prefers life on the roads, literally a monster hunter, literally carries 2 types of swords 1 for men 1 for monsters(which by the way, if you're really fighting monsters you would never use a sword, unless of course you're out of your fucking mind). Imagine Nicholas Cage as Geralt of Rivia, and you get Asher.
Plot: Incredibly promising if I'm being honest. It had the potential for be an epic conflict between 4 races and 6 countries aaaand it was totally butchered. The seeds of political intrigue were there which would have, if done properly, but Quaintrell would rather throw in another random fight that has nothing to do with the story, doesn't advance the story.
Writing: As I ended the plot section above Quaintrell writes like he's in 7th grade. He opts for these pointless and needless bits of action instead of expanding upon certain points of intrigue taking time to flesh out characters. No he would rather write another fight scene. And his fight scenes wouldn't be so bad, if he didn't write so fucking many. I mean Jesus I think there is a fight in every chapter. EVERY CHAPTER. I'm not even sure if that's exaggeration or not, there are literally so many fight scenes. The reason I say he fight scenes wouldn't be bad if he didn't have so many, is because he uses the same phrases OVER AND OVER AND OVER. When someone is dodging a blow? He shifts his shoulders and is inches from where the sword would've been. First of all, he SHIFTS HIS SHOULDERS?! Like what?! These people, not just the overpowered characters either, are dodging sword thrusts and swings, with considerable force by shifting their shoulders. I cannot even process this. Quite a few people in this world are also being cut down "from shoulder to waist in a single blow." AHA! Now I see the shoulder shift dodges purpose. This is what I mean by 7th grade writing. if Quaintrell had done any research, or shit even applied any common sense, he wouldn't write this sort of doggrral.

Fantastic
The only improvements I'd like to see are these two:
1. More development between relationships (friends, romances, enemies). Small gestures in close settings that reveal each person's character, especially in relation to each other. I want to love and hate the various characters.
2. Abandoning the trope of artificially building suspense. Example: when they're all encouraged to just "jump" towards the end with no explanation (or intuition on the part of the jumpers). *It comes at odds to characters' ability to speak with each other--for example--between blows in a battle.
That said, no other complaints. It's setting a very high bar. I only say it because everything else is so water-tight and entertaining that I'm positive PCQ could do it. Definitely a professional.
I love the world, the magic system, the complexity and the plot twists.

Great story sad ending.
Love to listen to stories where young adults aquire a magical gift to use helping others. Story starts with Asher at 9 years beginning a magical adventure and jumps to him being 49. He has a bad past 35 years and turns his life around in the last 14 years to become the hero of the store by helping others. So how does the author end the story? Asher saves the day, his body is newed, falls in love with Fayland, they have the opportunity to have a happy ending together but the author decides that is not to be. The story could have had a better ending for Asher and Fayland much like it was for Nathaniel and the princess. I spend time and money to escape reality to find adventure outside what I experience in real life. I hate stories that build up for the adventure, give you hope for the future, and end in tragedy. Makes you feel like evil still wins in the end.

Great Series
Great series for fans of sword and sorcery traditional fantasy. Not tame, but definitely wouldn't call it grimdark either.

Good old fashioned fantasy
Great story, with plenty of everything you expect from a fantasy book. Monsters, magic, dragons, love, war, and plenty of blood n guts.

Read soon after the others
I left about 6 months between book 2 and this and by then I’d forgotten who people were and what they were doing! This meant I feel like I was just tying up loose ends rather than enjoying the book on it’s own right.
