Explore the extraordinary history and theology of Christian mission. Encounter the great Christian missionaries from those Christ first commissioned through the men and women who continue to heroically and sensitively communicate the faith today.

Through this remarkable 12-lecture audio series, you will gain special insight into the Catholic Church’s timeless mission and the special issues it confronts today. Your guide is Jesuit professor Eduardo C. Fernández, a master storyteller and celebrated theologian. You will find his lectures both informative and moving.

Characteristic of missiology’s method, this course is interdisciplinary, drawing from such areas such as Biblical studies, history, anthropology, and theology. After taking an in-depth look at mission in biblical and world history, you’ll compare Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant approaches to evangelism and evangelization. You’ll also explore inculturation, which some describe as preaching the Gospel in a way that is tailored to a particular culture. Next, you’ll examine religious pluralism and inter-religious dialogue before viewing mission through the lenses of ecumenicity, social justice, and spirituality.

From its biblical basis through its extraordinary history and current practice, you will come to see and understand mission in the richest sense. This course is both edifying and enjoyable.
