Sintesi dell'editore

VBI (Vermont Bureau of Investigation) head Joe Gunther and his team are called in to investigate a series of violent deaths that appear unrelated until telltale clues reveal a linkage between them and that all of the deaths are, in fact, murders. However, apart from a single drop of unexplained blood left at each crime scene, there are no obvious connections between the victims or the cases.

In the search for the elusive truth, the VBI must plumb the depths of every suspect's past, every victim's most intimate details, and examine each piece of evidence down to the smallest detail - an examination which includes a trip to the Brookhaven National Lab and an exploration of cutting edge forensic technology.

Too bad

I'm a long time fan of the "Joe Gunther" series, but I regret having listened to this. It's time for Joe to retire. Too much back-story, too many predictable ploys for suspense and too poor a narration.

Love the books, the audiobook no

I was disappointed in this! I love the books, but the audiobook rendition washes out the characters and makes them into people I didn't recognize. Very disappointing.

What's with the narration?

I have read most of the Joe Gunther series from Archer Mayor. There have been some parts of these stories that border on being good literature, but the narration on the audiobooks makes Mayor's characters into caricature. I couldn't get the vision of a group of buffoons out of my head with some of the verbal exchanges, as offered by the narrator. Sadly, Joe Gunther comes out sounding like an oaf, which does not connect with my vision of him and his quiet strength. I won't listen to another.
