Storia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Sintesi dell'editore
Jane Austen's most popular novel, originally published in 1813, some 17 years after it was first written, presents the Bennet family of Longbourn. Against the background of gossipy Mrs. Bennet and the detached Mr. Bennet, the quest is on for husbands for the five daughters. The spotlight falls on Elizabeth, second eldest, who is courted by Darcy, though initially she is more concerned with the fate of her other sisters.

Pride and Prejudice
This audio book was wonderful. The voice of the reader was very easy to listen to, while still affording the ability to distiquish between characters. I listened to it on a flight to and from England and, remarkably, it made the flight enjoyable. I hope you enjoy hearing it as much as I did.

Miss Fox gives a wonderful read of this great book. I love the way she does the different voices. Her timing and inflections are wonderful.

Ah, Mr. Darcy!
There is nothing like listening to your favorite Jane Austen book! Complete with the beautiful accent, it is almost as if she is reading it herself. I hated this to end!! The story was brought to life better than any Hollywood film could have!

PURE DELIGHT
This book is my all time favorite. The dialog is stunning. The characters have become a part of my inner world, they are so real to me. It takes the ordinary theme of young men and women meeting and falling in love to a level that I simply have never encountered in any other story I've read. It is all done with brilliant and cleverly written dialog. To think that this was written by a young woman of her time is truly amazing, that is was so popular at the time is even more amazing and that it continues to be such a favorite is only well deserved.
I enjoyed this audio book very much and look forward to Part II. Although I have read this book at least a dozen times over the past four decades, it is always as delightful as it was the first time I read it.

Excellent narration!
As a classic, this is an obvious must-read. I read it in school but the audiobook made the story so much more enjoyable due to the characters easy-to-understand accent and voice-impersonations. If you haven't read this in a while, definitely listen to the audio version, you will love it!

Mrs. Bennet is even more annoying on audio
While this is my favorite book, I had a hard time with the narration. To make Mrs. Bennet so strident, the narrator made her very loud. Charlotte Lucas was narrated very softly. Consequently, I was constantly annoyed at having to adjust my volume.

Superb Version of a Timeless Classic
What did you love best about Pride and Prejudice?
Despite a myriad of obstacles and their own stubborn flaws Darcy and Elizabeth are able to find happiness while learning important life lessons.
What other book might you compare Pride and Prejudice to and why?
Unfortunately, Pride and Prejudice is the standard to which I hold up all other novels, so it would always when in a comparison. The writing, the story, and the characters are timeless and have held up well over two centuries. Although many have attempted to replicate it, none have succeeded.
What about Emilia Fox’s performance did you like?
Fox, who coincidentally portrayed Georgiana Darcy in the 1995 BBC miniseries, was superb. Her narration and delivery embodied the spirit and tone of this classic novel and brought the story and characters to life.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Although some label this novel as light and fluffy, I find it to be a sparkling and charming look into the human condition, complete with heroes and villains along with lessons we can all learn from. Austen was a shrewd observer of people and wittily portrayed human nature at its best and worst without having to drag her characters through unnecessary pain and hardship to gain her point. The characters and situations were entirely relatable and life like.

Great reading!
I thoroughly enjoyed this reading of P&P. At first, it drove me crazy when Ms. Fox would read Mrs. Bennett's lines - she would shriek and wail in a very obnoxious manner. Then I realized this is probably exactly how Mrs. Bennett would have spoken!

First Loves Never Die
You ever notice how your first loves stay with you forever? It's true. Love for things as well sa people, you just... always remember. Well, that's my feeling about Pride and Prejudice. It was one of my first loves.
Jane Austin is an engaging writer. The characters draw you in, and you know who they are because they are people in your life somehow.
The story gets into you somehow and it breaths it's own passion.
I'm not sure what else I can say without giving away the plot, except that I highly recommend this book to anyone with a romantic soul.

Best narrator ever!
Emilia Fox is once again amazing. She brings every character to live so as one can picture them exactly as Austen describes them. If you love Austen this is definatley the audio version for you as she brings an energy into it which makes even me, a not so avid fan, warm to the story. Once you listen to this listen to other books which Emilia Fox reads in particular the Agatha Christie books. Again she gives each character a life of their own and she is by far one of the best if not the best narrator in the world.

Brought to Life
As the previous reviewer states, the narrator brings this story to life. Through her skill, you are transported into world Jane Austin has created.
I came to this story more out of curiosity through its fame as a literary work but was thoroughly impressed by both the quality of the presentation and the story itself. Highly recommended!

Wonderful!
This is, for me, the definitive performance of Pride and Prejudice. What an actress Emilia Fox proves herself to be in her characterisation of the beloved and not so beloved characters within this book.
I make no comment on the book itself as, if you have seen the BBC's Classic rendition then you can make up your own mind as to whether this is for you, for they follow the story faithfully throughout.

Excellent rendition of a well known classic
It's often a disappointment when the reading of a well loved story doesn't meet expectations. This one did - Emilia Fox's reading was excellent with good characterisation. Although the unabridged version is lengthy - it was all highly enjoyable.

Fox brings Austin to life
Pride & Prejudice is one of those books I felt I ought to read but just haven't gotten around to it. When I saw there was a version narrated by Emilia Fox I decided this was the way to go, having previously enjoyed her narration of different Audible books. I am so glad I did as she brought the characters to life and has secured this book a place on my shelves (and iPhone).

Two of my favourite things, together at last.
Emilia Fox rocks! Well, not really. But she does do an absolutely stellar job of reading P&P with wonderful expression. I suppose it's not surprising, given her background and links to the much-loved BBC production of this much-loved novel. Ms Fox is also one of the few actresses who reads unabridged versions of the classics, which is also a delight. I could listen to her voice for hours, and luckily, now that is exactly what I can do.

My favourite - never disappoints!
Emilia Fox was Georgiana in the 1995 BBC adaptation, and though her voice is now more mature, it could not help but bring happy memories which enhanced the listening experience.

A classic for a reason
Where does Pride and Prejudice rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
By far my most listened to audiobook but also one of my most re-read books full stop.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mr Bennett had always been my favourite character due to his sense of humour and the way that he is described - it is possible that he reminds me a little of many that I know.
What about Emilia Fox’s performance did you like?
She bought a nice sense of brutishness to the story as would be expected and what very few accents she uses are well done and appropriate. A nice steady pace and thoughtfully executed.

Pride and prejudice
What made the experience of listening to Pride and Prejudice the most enjoyable?
Read beautifully by Emilia Fox. Always one of my favourite books.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Inevitably, Elizabeth Bennett, closely followed by Mr Collins. Emilia Fox brought out his 'cringiness' superbly.
What does Emilia Fox bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Her reading was so good that it brought out hidden depths.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wanted to, but it actually took three or four listening episodes. Time so well spent.
Any additional comments?
Just loved this rendition.

Emilia fox is a terrible narrator
her voice is so grating and irritating that despite being a huge Austen fan , having read the book several times , I couldn't force myself to listen to more than 3 mins at a time. i have many regrets in my life but the primary one is buying this audio book. learn from my mistakes and AVOID. covid 19 pandemic is awful enough don't let fox's overacting make ur life harder
