Amazing!!! Parenting saviour!

I first found out about Casey and Kirk through one of their books that I had randomly found in audible. I was at a point in my life and parenting life with 4 kids and wanted a new approach I could see what we were doing wasn’t what we had planned for and sat and thought about the kind of people I wanted my children to be well rounded, kind caring thoughtful people who didn’t just live in this bubble. I could see that they were becoming entitled and didn’t have a clear view of the would don’t get me wrong they are good kids and listen 86% of the time. Whole listening to the tips and the lessons they had for me i could really see what it is i was doing it opened my eyes to everything i was handling wrong and the effects it was having so instead of opening up and communicating with me my kids were afraid that I would blow or be mad. I also realised I had a huge problem micro managing my kids especially my teen in. Other words i was turning into everyone’s nightmare i was becoming my mother! (She is great and all especially now that I am older) but i was that rebellious teen bouncing off the walls and i could see how my actions as a parent were impacting my kids. I have learnt so much from this book and the best part about it is unlike other self help books it was funny and entertaining it kept me engaged

Very helpful. Excellent all around

I like that there are different authors included this audio book. I wish there was a print version. Ive taken notes since highlighting is not an option. Here is a sample from my notes:

1. Perception of capability. Who am I? I can achieve this that etc
2. Significant. I have value. I can contribute. I haveimportance
3. Guidance, influence on self. I can influence my destiny. I can influence where I’m going
4. Intrapersonal skill. Talk to selves. Manage self Stay calm and confined to manage own self thoughts/behavior. Manage and run own brain
5. Interpersonal. Work w others to form friendships and community. Empathy share negotiate effectively
6. Skills of Systems management how I run my life and humans. Responsibility flexibility while maintaining integrity
7. Skills of judgment use wisdom to use appropriate knowledge at appropriate times

Goal of parenting is to turn these into actions. Well stocked tool box. Collaboration w teens to move into better future.

amazing praxtical tools in easy to follow format

I love this audio! the format of short stories by different professionals makes it so easy to listen and go back over the key points. it has empowered me to make healthy goals for my teen and myself. the part on social media is so true and needs much more emphasis in the world today. listen, share and enjoy the peace these techniques can bring to you and your family.

Missed opportunity in Ch. 1

I couldn't get past the fact that the authors did not first address the inappropriate and immature behavior of the father in their very first scenario. Parents who do not demonstrate emotional self-control are going to have a tough time raising children who do. I think that's where they should have begun.

It’s a must listen for parents

After chapter 1, my husband and I consciously made changes to ourselves, which was immediately well-received by our daughters. My favorite chapters were 1 & 2. My least favorite were the ones by Liv Montgomery. Overall, I have been recommending this title to anyone with children, no matter their ages.

The beginning is better than the end. Some suggestions I believe are ridiculous but I gave 4 stars because I did get some good points.

Great Book

This is a great audio book and as much as I was reading it to boost my teens confidence, it contributed in boosting mine! The book also assisted me to really understand my teenagers and mentor them.

This changed my life!

After several months of changes and moods with my teenager, this book is just what I needed! It provides so many helpful tips to the parent and therefore assisting the child(ren) through the awkward and ever-changing teen age years. I will carry the tools and lessons found here with me forever! Thank you all tremendously for blessing us with this awesome literature!

Parenting the Confident Teen: Stop Disrespect and Raise a Confident Teenager by Kirk Martin, Casey Martin, Larry Iverson etc. It is a unique book of selected themes on how to behave with a teen, so they behave. Listening to this Audible Original made me remember myself as a teen. It is OK to listen to this edition with your teen as there are conversations and some role-play and children's behavioural therapists and entrepreneurs.

What in the boomer nonsense

Nobody lives like this any more. I don’t know when this book was published but it’s very dated and it shows.
