Sintesi dell'editore
Too long to be a short story, too short to be a novel - welcome to the surprisingly potent world of the novelette. The award-winning magazine Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show has been an online haven for this powerful form of storytelling since 2005. Now its editors have selected their all-time favorite science fiction novelettes from the magazine's eight-year history and reprinted them together in one big book of listening pleasure. Anything that is remotely possible - futures near and far, artificial intelligence and alien encounters, alternate timelines and alternate theories about creating universes, planet-eating black holes and lunar racetracks - is all here under the big tent of Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show.
This anthology features stories by such award-winning authors as Orson Scott Card, Wayne Wightman, Aliette de Bodard, Eric James Stone, Mary Robinette Kowal, Stephen Kotowych, Jackie Gamber, Greg Siewert, Jamie Todd Rubin, Brad R. Torgersen, and Marina J. Lostetter, plus an all-new essay by Orson Scott Card about writing the character of Ender.

Hit & Miss Anthology
As usual for anthologies, some are good, some are not. A few verge into fantasy instead of sci-fi, if that matters. A couple were strong right up to the end when they nosedived.
• Sojourn for Ephah • (2012) • novelette by Marina J. Lostetter = 2.5 stars (mostly good/weird; terrible ending)
• Brutal Interlude • (2011) • novelette by Wayne Wightman = 3 stars (but hated the end)
• Under the Shield • (2011) • novelette by Stephen Kotowych = 1 star (blah)
• Hologram Bride • (2009) • novella by Jackie Gamber = 4 stars
• The Curse of Sally Tincakes • (2012) • novelette by Brad R. Torgersen = 3 stars
• The Absence of Stars • (2009) • novelette by Greg Siewert = 4 stars
• Making Ender Smart • essay by Orson Scott Card = 1 star
• Mazer in Prison • [Ender's Universe] • (2005) • novelette by Orson Scott Card = 3 stars
• When I Kissed the Learned Astronomer • (2007) • novelette by Jamie Todd Rubin = 4 stars
• Body Language • (2009) • novelette by Mary Robinette Kowal = 3 stars
• Tabloid Reporter to the Stars • (2007) • novelette by Eric James Stone = 4 stars
• On Horizon's Shores • (2009) • novelette by Aliette de Bodard = 2.5 stars (another rough ending)
All of the audiobook narrators did a good job.

Guess I'm not a novelette fan.
i thought the stories were well read/performed but I didn't like the way most of them ended. They spend a lot of time building the characters and story, then the ending is short with little detail leaving you hanging. I guess they leave it up to your own imagination but that is not what I want. Think I will stick to novels in the future. If novelettes are your thing I think will probably like this collection.

Super fun sci-fi stories!
Fun quick listen, some fun background stories to End’s game, and thought provoking stories me and my friends spent time talking about

Entertaining
I found each story to be entertaining and well read by the story tellers and their presentation.

Ugh
Sexist, salacious, outdated, unrealistic…these are ostensibly futuristic stories, yet the behaviors and attitudes are so out of step with society’s values, especially in light of Me Too, and everything that has happened to change the way we treat women; I literally had to stop listening in disgust.
The final straw was a story in which a government subsidized program “randomly” chooses citizens and televises every moment of their lives, EVERY INTIMATE MOMENT, in hi-def, from multiple angles. The more traumatic the subject finds this voyuerism, the higher the ratings. And of course, the higher the ratings the more rewards the subject can receive. The subject is offered a panoply of drugs, and the show’s emcee, it’s celebrity host, assaults her “over her clothes” whenever she’s unconscious.
Nope.
It’s free, and I guess if you’re bored some weird old Sci-fi might be fun…but if it’s that’s your situation, grab some Heinlein or better yet, some old Sci-fi Hall of Fames; loaded with big ideas and classic stories that inspired generations of writers. O.S.C. isn’t a complete waste of time, but this anthology is.

Some of the stories are in the other OSCIGMS
While these stories aren't completely terrible, several are duplicates from the other Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show. It was very disappointing to hear the same stories again, since I thought I was buying a separate set.
As for the stories themselves, I was not overly impressed by any of them, but they were somewhat interesting.

Needs the author's notes at the end
not sure why they're not included here. I always enjoyed them and the collection is lesser because of it.

Amazing collection!
Collections are usually some anchors and a bunch of fillers. I enjoyed every one in this collection.

Little science fiction, mostly interpersonal talk.
Very little science fiction. A great deal of frequently argumentative interpersonal talk not advancing a science fiction plot. Very disappointing.

I came for Ender's Universe, but was dissapointed
Any additional comments?
Only one Ender's universe history: Mazer in Prison (which is great).
Although there are many good short stories, I was a bit disappointed that there was not more from Ender's universe.
Would be good to have the titles of all stories on the description of this audiobook.

Loved it
The first two stories I didn’t like and almost stopped reading… but I’m glad I didn’t! All the stories after that are amazing!
And it’s so much fun to find new authors.
Most readers where good. Only one “whistled” which was annoying.
