It started out so well...

It started out really well, describing the tried and true basics of sales and marketing like “know, like and trust” as well as “first impressions really matter.” It wasn’t until the chapter on “posturing” that it all went south. Basically, Ryan Chamberlin believes a sales person’s “posturing” means being a shifty jerk.

Examples:
When a prospective buyer asks questions, tell them “that’s a great question!” and then proceed to NOT answer it but instead say that smart people will get all their questions answered ONLY if they agree to a sales presentation.
Do you have a prospect that isn’t happy with the price or your product or service? No problem! Just tell them they’re poor and they are no longer allowed to have it (This was an actual story in the book!) and get high fives from your manager.

The rest of the book was just a re-hashing of old, worn out, high pressure sales tactics (classified section of the phone book?) that made me think this was written in the late 80s. I was shocked to learn the this came out in 2019!

It didn’t help that the narrator used a douchey, slightly east-coast tone which added a scuzzy, grifter like feel to the already pushy, condescending attitude of the author’s words.

Being the owner of 2 small businesses, I’ve had my fair share of sales people reach out to me. The ones who’ve used these “7 laws” are the ones I’ve told to go to hell.

Do NOT implement these tactics unless you’re a shifty used car salesman.

Start here!

In a sea of self-improvement and sales books, it's easy to get lost, specially if you don't know what it is you are looking for. This audiobook should definitely be in the Top 5 for anyone staring a sales career.

How I wish I could have had this decades ago!

just finished listening and I plan to play it several times. Excellent book that has given me alot of ideas.

You have everything that it takes to perform at a much higher level than you ever thought possible — with “Now You Know” you can achieve this — Only if you have the desire and willingness to do so.. I thoroughly enjoyed this book — it opened my eyes to proven principles and techniques to increase my chances of closing a sale. This is definitely a book I will listen over and over.

Some gems here

Smooth flow and narration. Some good gems here, such as the value of a sense of urgency & the analogy of "The Law of the Big Rocks."
