Enjoyable historical fiction

This was a very enjoyable historical fiction. The accents are little wanting, but the story is empowering.

Amazing story of Russian women and their role in WWII

Well written and well presented.

I first heard of the women who played an important part in WWII last year when my group read Huntress by Quinn. That’s when I started searching for more.

Ms Lasky has long been a favorite author, so I chose her book. It was a good decision.

She provides characters who are believable and they provide a better idea of the people of Russia and what they endured during the war.

You come away with real respect for women and how far they will go to defend their homeland. These women were real heroes, especially since they had to fight so much more than just the German military machine.

Not about flying

My fault for not reading the reviews in more detailed. More of a young adult book.

Some of the premises (rescues) are beyond belief.

Maybe for adolescents

So disappointing. In the beginning I kept hoping it would develop and to some extent it did. But it was very adolescent in the telling. At the end the story went completely off the rails and hang somewhere in space with unanswered questions . In fact in the one scene I think she stole the idea from Stephen King in one of his books about a writer who is kept prisoner by a woman. In fact I was expecting something like that to happen and the rescue was even more unbelievable. And the ending....like the school books where the underdog comes out on top.
