Sintesi dell'editore

It's official! Siobhan is now Garda O'Sullivan, and her five siblings couldn't be prouder. While her brother James runs Naomi's Bistro, Siobhan is doing her part to keep the village safe. Of course, Kilbane is pretty quiet compared to a place like Dublin, where Macdara Flannery has gone to be a detective sergeant.

Then one night the local priest summons Siobhan to the church cemetery. There's a dead man in the graveyard - above ground. He's a stranger, but the priest has heard talk of an American tourist in town searching for an Irish ancestor. A detective sergeant is dispatched from Dublin to assist with the case, and, as fate would have it, it's Macdara.

Things have been awkward between him and Siobhan since he left, but their partnership soon unearths that the victim was from Dublin, Ohio. As they dig for a motive among the gnarled roots of his family tree, long-buried secrets are unearthed.

Now, they'll have to stay two steps ahead of the killer...or they'll end up with more than one foot in the grave.

Great Listen!

Love the mystery, humor and insight into some of Irish culture. The storyline is interesting and flows easily with good twists. The reader captures the character’s voices wonderfully. I just wonder if the author means to only portray Americans as typically obnoxious, egotistical and/or snobs? Hopefully, there is room for diversity in character, even among Americans!

too many twists and turns to count!

fantastic murder mystery that keeps you guessing to the very end. I've listened to all three books and it's left me waiting for the next book. Miss O'Connor is a fine, well versed author.

Series getting better.

Although a couple years passed in the storyline since the second book with major changes in the main characters lives, the author handles that adroitly. And you would think that a couple actual years worth of honing her writing skills had passed as well. The first two books were good but seemed as though the series could either get better or sizzle out. Happily, this entry is the best yet and leaves me definitely wanting the series to continue. The mystery was satisfyingly complex. And the personal relationship between the main characters was interesting but not so intrusive that it turned a well done mystery into borderline romance novel.

Better than book 2 by far

I devoured it in 2 nights. The only thing that bothers me is the near impossibility that they haven’t moved farther along in their relationship. Just one kiss every book and that’s fine with them? Anyway, besides the lack of romance it was a compelling listen even if the twists and turns became dizzying. The ending left me wondering if the author knew where she was going with it or just decided this is how it would end.
It’s implausible that someone would go to such lengths and commit murder for these reasons.
I love the narrator so much. I don’t care that she can’t do an American accent.

Narrator's Great. Book's Just Okay.

I could listen to this narrator read from the phonebook, which is good, because this book is only slightly more compelling. The story continues the O'Sullivan Six Mysteries tradition of not really being a mystery at all. It just sort if meanders through a series of conversations in which everyone seems to be playing a really high stakes version of"Two Truths and a Lie." The main character blunders her way through these to eventually arrive at the truth, pausing occasionally to revel in contrived personal drama for variety's sake. It's not the worst mystery/romance I've sat through, but it's also just not great.

Good story but narration needs work

I love the O'Sullivan Six and their shenanigans! Unfortunately, the narrator's attempt at American accents is painful and distracting to listen to.

Better and better

This series gets better with each book. Characters and family are still the same as well as ongoing ‘romance’. Caroline Lennon is a superb Irish narrator with the appropriate humorous nuances. Hopefully there will be. Ore
