A proposito di questo titolo

The second installment in a hilarious and charming chapter book series featuring exuberant and irresistible third-grader Millie Magnus.

When Millie Magnus hears hints of a plan to tear down the neighborhood playground, she knows she and her friends absolutely can’t let that happen. Millie believes she’s the obvious choice to lead the charge—she lives with the mayor after all. And no one, and I mean no one, cares about saving the playground more than her.

But when a group of cool fourth graders known as the Real Chill Pickles join the effort, Millie discovers that being a good leader might be trickier than she thought. The more Millie tries to tell everyone what to do, the more they don’t want to work with her.

Soon, the Pickles and a few of her friends have quit, leaving Mayor Millie to wonder where she went wrong. Is it possible Millie’s memories with her dad at the park have made her a tad overzealous? Can she make up with her friends and confront her fear of change before it’s too late?

Recensioni della critica

“Millie is personality-plus, with her pet chicken named Extra Spicy and fashionable array of rain boots, and her sweet and slightly brassy narration models how mix-ups can often be improved with open communication.”—The Washington Post

"A satisfying sequel whose lively protagonist continues to learn and grow . . . Mazique offers another well-paced narrative, once more nailing Millie Magnus’ voice, difficulties, and feelings. Glenn’s perky, sure-handed line and grayscale cartoons bring to life an appealingly self-confident character and an encouraging supporting cast." —Kirkus Reviews

“This well-written tale deftly explores the ups and downs of leadership in a way that kids can understand and relate to. Millie is a funny, sassy, and smart character that young readers will look forward to learning more about . . . An ideal read for kids looking to level up their chapter books.” —School Library Journal

“Vivacious third grader Millie likes to think she’s the boss . . . [A] charming series kickoff, confidently narrated by Millie and complemented by energetic b&w illustrations.” —Publishers Weekly

“A cute social-emotional read for kiddos . . . Millie Magnus is a self-assured third grader with her own unique style . . . [and] Glenn’s excellent grayscale artwork brings Millie’s story to life.” —School Library Journal

“Millie’s story outlines what to do when a person is being bullied in an accessible way for young kids . . . reminding readers that sometimes people's actions are driven by circumstances we can't see. Millie is a strong character who is not afraid to express herself but also knows the value of asking adults for help . . . Grayscale chapter art highlights the racial diversity of Millie's friend group and captures Millie's many emotions as the story unfolds . . .
