Sintesi dell'editore

A bittersweet inheritance reunites three estranged sisters in a novel of family, trust, and forgiveness from New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Brown.

When they were growing up, Dana, Harper, and Tawny thought of themselves as “sometimes sisters.” They connected only during the summer month they’d all spend at their grandmother’s rustic lakeside resort in north Texas. But secrets started building, and ten years have passed since they’ve all been together—in fact, they’ve rarely spoken, and it broke their grandmother’s heart.

Now she’s gone, leaving Annie’s Place to her granddaughters—twelve cabins, a small house, a café, a convenience store, and a lot of family memories. It’s where Dana, Harper, and Tawny once shared so many good times. They’ve returned, sharing only hidden regrets, a guarded mistrust, and haunting guilt. But now, in this healing summer place, the secrets that once drove them apart could bring them back together—especially when they discover that their grandmother may have been hiding something, too…

To overcome the past and find future happiness, these “sometimes sisters” have one more chance to realize they are always family.

Your Best

Although a slow start a wonderful story. A great blend of generational and cultural concerns. The inclusion of resolution of family problems that can plague siblings brings sadness and laughter. This book leaves me with great hope for a time when nothing but Love matters. I look forward to reading the book again.

A family story shared and wonderfully written!

This was a book that really touched my heart. I had no problem enjoying it from beginning to end. Our lives need a break from the stress of our own realities so getting lost in this book was amazing. The sisters are all different and are brought back to granny Annie's place to somehow come together & make amends with each other. what unfolds during that time is played out in such a way that you laugh, cry, wonder and think how all of their differences really draw them together. Glad I stumbled upon this gem. I was thrilled to have both the kindle & audio to go between!! If all books came this way I'd got lots more books in!

Great all around!

One of the best books I've come across in a long time. There were moments that some of the details seemed to be too much, dragging things out, but it brought you closer to the characters and into the story line. Kudos to the author. Story was performed well, easy to listen to.

Excellent, excellent story! Very moving!

In The Sometimes Sisters, Carolyn Brown tells a story of estranged sisters rebuilding their lives and building a relationship with one another, going from sometimes sisters to always sisters.

Carolyn Brown fills the pages with wonderful characters with whom I fell in love. Tears were brought to my eyes by some of the emotionally touching scenes. It was a very heartwarming story. There is romance in the story but as a part of the story not the whole as the main focus is on the sisters truly becoming family.

Brittany Pressley does a good job of narrating it. There is enough changes in the voices to keep up with which character is speaking. She also puts expression in her voice that displays the various emotions the characters experience in the course of the story.

It does not contain graphic sex or violence. Any profanity amounts to no more than a couple of mild curse words.

I highly recommend to anyone who just wants to get lost in a good story.

The Sometimes Sisters

I think I'm becoming an audiobook junkie. Anyway, I had the privilege of immersing myself in The Sometimes Sisters and the book was good; so good that it brought me to tears. I enjoyed listening, as the narrator gave each character their own distinct voices and personalities. The narrator allowed the listener to be a part of each sister's journey to wellness and wholeness. She made me feel like I knew these characters personally. For a few short hours, they become my family and they were my world.

I grieved Harper's loss, I felt Tawny's insecurity, and I understood that, with Dana's strength, there was also a hint of weakness. But it was Uncle Zed who had my heart. He knew just what each sister needed. He was like a rainbow after a storm. This was a refreshing story. It is one of those stories that will linger in your mind and heart. It will make you wonder what the sisters lives will be like in 10 years or 20 years. I miss the characters already.

Carolyn Brown, can you please give Brook and Johnny their own story?

Got better closer to the end...

I almost gave up on this book. The narrator was not the best, especially for the male characters but I stuck with it through the end. My favorite Carolyn Brown book is "Ladies Room" and was hoping for something similar for this book.

Humility is a Great Healer

The book is a great example of how pride and secrets can tear a family apart but trust and opened can heal. It’s also a lesson in how you can still move on in spite of the love you don’t get from a parent. I appreciate how the author didn’t repeat and dwell on topics but stated and went on. Great story.

There was too much profanity for my taste which is why I gave it 4 stars.

Sibling sensational

Very good story regarding days gone by and also current issues. The characters were very interesting and since I have sister's it was fun to read about their issues and to find out that most of their problems were about keeping secrets from each other out of fear of rejection. The audio book actor read the parts very well and made you believe the area written about.

great read & reminder of the importance of family

the story line is a valuable reminder that yes, you can go home and find solace and forgiveness, and time and family have way of helping the hurts heal.
the narrator was one of the best. you will not be disappointed!
