True love never dies.
Megan and Cassidy were childhood sweethearts who thought they would be together forever. Fate had other plans. Soon after they were married, Cass’s life was tragically cut short. Still grieving her soul mate five years later, Megan moves to the small town of Seaside, Oregon, hoping to rebuild her life.
Her first night there, she meets the town recluse, Theo. Withdrawn, guarded, and mysteriously silent since a terrible accident left him scarred, Theo takes an instant and inexplicable dislike to Megan. But as their paths cross again and again, Megan becomes convinced there’s more to Theo than meets the eye.
When she discovers the reason for his silence, his nightmares, and especially his pointed dislike, Megan becomes convinced of something far more astonishing.
Is a second chance at a once-in-a-lifetime love possible, or is a broken heart the cruelest kind of liar?
Wow.. and wow.. and wow again.. what a hauntingly beautiful, totally unique, bitter-sweet listen this was.. it’s an emotionally charged unforgettable story of true love that absolutely blindsided me with its greatness. The writing, the unfolding and unfurling of a heartbreaking yet heartwarming story, the cast of wonderful characters, the slow-build to the inevitable explosion and fusion of the romance, the light humor, the sex scenes, the mind f’kery and the mystery and magic of this life affirming love story were all perfectly balanced and blended to make a powerful powerful cocktail of feels.
It’s told from the strong, sarcastic, sassy yet sweet heroine’s POV.. as she tries to start a new chapter in her life by fulfilling her’s, and her late husband’s, dreams of restoring and bringing back to life The Buttercup Inn - a dilapidated beachside Guest House which they’d seen and fallen in love with years previously. But it won’t be the only thing to get torn down, restored and brought back to life.. because the nuclear fusion between her and a mysterious, broody, damaged, mute stranger will be the catalyst in an unforgettably moving mystic love story of lost souls reuniting.
Worth a credit? For me, it’s THE book in a sea of memorable audiobooks.. the one that broke my heart with its words of anguish over a lost love.. and then it healed my bleeding heart with its beautiful scenes of forever love. The narration was, thankfully, perfect.. and this, coupled with a riveting story that grabs you, pulls you in, and compels you to foresake just about everything else in your life, is definitely.. absolutely.. one hundred percent.. don’t even think about it creditworthy.

More than just a regular romance book. Kept me guessing what would happen until the end. Enjoyed the narration.

I loved this book so much despite the lack of dirty talk. It’s was beautifully written as well as great narration. I couldn’t stop listening. It a bit of a tear jerker so be ready but it is worth it⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is not your run of the mill romance story. This is a tale about love, loss, second chances and the belief that one can love a person beyond them being dead or alive. J.T.'s writing, as always, is beautiful and evocative. She makes the reader's journey seem very unobtrusive and you become a willing witness to what is happening with both Meghan and Theo. I think I would have loved this story being told in dual POV just to get more into Theo's head, but the epilogue gave the reader a bit of what went on in his mind and how he coped and managed. The narration was solid as always.
Any additional comments?
I've read other books from this author before so I thought I'd give it try. Since it was Valentine's Day I thought the title was fitting. Turns out the title has nothing to do with the day of love. I'm glad I read this book. It was very interesting and I read (listened) to it in one day. This story tugged at my heart strings and I felt for the hero. I think this was a great read (listen).
