Christmas in Fair Bend

Lacey is a career driven woman and nothing is going to stand in her way. Well that is until her cheap scape boss sends her close to home and asks her to stay at her parents home to save the company money. Lacey gets a career and life reality check running into old classmates her ex. This is a super sweet short book. Nice job on the narration.

A Cute Festive Listen

Ten years ago, Lacey broke up with her college boyfriend Mason to pursue her dream job in Boston. Now she's back in her small hometown to visit her family for Christmas. When she runs into Mason again, she can't help wondering if they could have a second chance at love.

This was a cute clean read that I polished off in one sitting! Although this is novella length, it felt like a full story with a developed main character. I love a driven career woman, and I love that Lacey went after her dreams. She wasn't afraid to put her heart out there. Mason and her family were both adorable. The narration was done well, with different voices for each character. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. It's a festive listen I'd recommend for any time of the year!

Great for any time of year

I started listening to this book this morning when I got to work and was done by lunch time! It’s a great story, I loved the characters and the settings. It’s not just a Christmas story, although it does take place at Christmas time. There is humor, family, friendship, a dog (always a plus!) and, of course, love.

As far as the narration is concerned, I am super picky when it comes to audiobooks. Amanda Stribling is fantastic!

I can’t wait to read or listen to more by Angie Ellington!

Sweet & charming!

What did you love best about Christmas in Fair Bend?

it's wholesome story...It reminded me a bit of a Hallmark movie.

What did you like best about this story?

second chance love for a young couple was sweet but I loved the family dynamic as well & the small town setting.

Which scene was your favorite?

there were a few but the end is a favorite and even though it's a novella the author added an epilogue which was great to get a little more!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

there were a few sweet moments that were equally enjoyable. I liked the recognition of the spirit of Christmas being important in the story's theme.

Any additional comments?

Delightfully Enchanting.

Angie Ellington is a summer breeze on a cloudy day.  Christmas in Fair Bend hides a dose of reality in a heartwarming story.  For Lacey it's all business.  Maybe later, has become her favorite mantra. Is living for her job more important than finding pleasure in life? Ms. Ellington and Amanda Stribling are a match made in heaven.  They sync perfectly.  With a spoonful of sugar and a whole lot of heart Christmas in Fair Bend will delightfully enchant readers and listeners.

Light, Endearing, and Tugs at the Heartstrings

Where does Christmas in Fair Bend rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This novella is in a Christmas setting but easily enjoyed any time of year! The leads are smart and the dialogue is believable. I was hopeful for a happy ending and was not disappointed.

What other book might you compare Christmas in Fair Bend to and why?

This book reminded me of the light and sparkling style of author Sophie Kinsella books.

What about Amanda Stribling’s performance did you like?

Clear and honest narrative. Did not drop off at the end of the sentences. Good variation on character voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I am a sucker for a good happily-ever-after.

Any additional comments?

Look forward to Ellington's next offering.

Great Everything!

Everything about this book is great. Great narrator, great story, great pacing... I loved the way the author gave the characters depth and situations to which they had to give hard thought as to how it would affect them. The story spans a decade in the lives of of Lacey and Mason, bringing them back together for the hardest decision in Lacey's life. And a huge thank you to author, Angie Ellington for showing us that a good romantic story doesn't have to be filled with erotic encounters.

A sweet, second chance holiday romance

This book definitely falls under the umbrella of a seasonal holiday romance and it could easily form the basis for a movie on the Hallmark Channel.

It’s a light, sweet read set in small town USA and, with an audio time of approximately 3 hours, offers a good dose of entertainment without needing a lot of time invested; time being at a premium during the holidays when readers turn to books like this.

What I particularly enjoyed about this second chance romance is that it was two people whose lives cross a second time, which proves to be the right time for them both. Both Lacey and Mason made choices that were right for them 10 years ago. And now, it’s a rediscovery of each other as somewhat new people. There is some melancholy about lost chances but overwhelmingly it’s a story about knowing when to stay, when to leave and when to reassess your course in life.

A special mention goes to Alexia, the popular, sometimes ‘mean girl’ from high school, who shows that people can change and are worth getting to know the second time around...or maybe that only happens in fiction?

Amanda Strebling does a good job of narrating both male and female voices. There’s some mispronunciation of a couple of words but nothing that impacts the overall story. Alexia again shines through in the narration.
