How much will she risk for love?

Fired from her prestigious job, journalist Allison Wakefield is now working for a tabloid newspaper, and she's desperate to find a way to get her career back on track. Her new assignment, an explosive story involving mysterious bestselling author Jacob Covington, could be the answer. When Allison first encounters the author while visiting her aunt's home on Idlewild Lake in Michigan, she realizes that Jacob is one subject she wouldn't mind getting to know more intimately.

But as they work side by side during Jacob's book tour, Allison finds herself falling in love - and in a dilemma about what to do. The exposé is her ticket to success, but revealing the truth about Jacob's past as an undercover State Department operative could jeopardize his career and destroy a summer romance that holds the promise of a lifetime of happiness.

Horrible Love Scenes

OMG, black lovers, not even wealthy to do black folk say thing during sex like, " Get In Me" or "I'm Suspended Here, If I Don't Burst I will Die". And the writer writing things like "Into Her Lover Gate". For real! For the love scenes that that had, I got to where I just forwarded past them.
Just horrible.
This is gonna make me have nightmares.

This book makes me loose interest in the writer

What did you like best about Last Chance at Love? What did you like least?

It was just ok, Gwynne Forster stories are starting to seem so similar you can figure out the end after the first or second chapter. Boring...

Would you recommend Last Chance at Love to your friends? Why or why not?

I'm a sucker for a good love story with a happy ending, but no would not recommend.

What aspect of Cary Hite’s performance would you have changed?

Cary should work on his female voices a little more.

Was Last Chance at Love worth the listening time?

NO

Hard listen

I am an audible connoisseur, this book was awful. The story line was tough and it was hard and slow to get through.

A Good Romance Love Story

Title: Last Chance At Love

What I liked from this read...

This was a wonderful beautiful read that once you start you will find it hard to put down until he very end. The two main characters Allison Wakefield and Jacob Covington were quite a interesting
pair and being put together whether it was wanted or not was really fascinating to read.
Allison had a job that meant that she had to do what she had to do to get the story and not let no one, not very Jacob Covington stop her from getting what she needed for this story about which was about 'him.' Jacob on the other hand was a very private person that was determined that there were some things in his life he wanted kept that way. With Allison having been fired earlier from a prestigious journalist job due to the fact she hadn't done her job well she was determine that that would not be the case in this job even if that meant that she had to become a under cover sleuth to find more out about Jacob. It was really intriguing when Allison had to make a decision that could cost her happiness. What will she decide to do? How will this dilemma play out? To find these answers pick up "Last Chance at Love" to see how this author will bring it all out to the reader. I found "Last Chance at Love" a wonderful entertaining love story that will give you some food for thought in this well written novel by a wonderful author. Would I recommend? YES!

Slow burn 🔥

Nice listen but lacked action. I mean, seeing as the H is an undercover agent. You'd or hope for a little Action. h was just as bad. I expected more from her story as well. kinda underwhelmed.

Interesting Story, Poor Execution

I wanted to like this book. I listened until the end only because I wanted to know how it ended. I found the dialogue very dated, and almost intolerable honestly. The narrator did not help at all. He missed many nuances in conversation, making the male characters often sound belittling and scolding of the female character. The narrator couldn’t keep the voices consistent and often mixed them up leading to confusion of who was speaking. I finally skipped through much of the last two chapters because I just couldn’t tolerate the awful dialogue any longer. The ending did not make it worth the hours I spent listening to this horrible book. The story line had great potential, but the actual writing, dialogue and narration made for poor execution.

Very Slow and Monotone

I’m an avid audiobook reader but I could not get into this book. It was so slow. I got to chapter 7 and it was still slow with little action. Just dragging with nonsense. That was more than half the book and I couldn’t take it anymore. Couldn’t finish.

A struggle to finish

I overall did not enjoy this book. The narrator was horrible. The story was blah. I think I didn't have to pay anything for this book otherwise I would have returned it for a refund. I'm not sure if I will give this author or narrator another chance with another book.

Hard Listen

I really wanted to like this book but the reader was not very good at changing voices or making me feel the story. Some characters just seem "dull" for lack of a better word. I didn't even like his Momma -- not because she was written bad but because the reader made her sound so dull, inattentive and uninterested. I love audible books but some people who read these books make the books worst. Maybe would have liked it better with a different audible reader.
