Nearly a year has passed since Steve and Sarah Miller discovered Lentari through a magical portal in their own home in Idaho. Mikal, the young Lentarian crown prince, is happy, healthy, and adapting well to living in modern America with his bodyguards. However, their peace is soon shattered when Steve gets a frightening message—the queen has been kidnapped and their help is needed! They leave Prince Mikal safe and secure in Coeur d'Alene with Annie, Sarah's sister, and Tristan, his tutor. But, as kids will do, Mikal sneaks through the portal to try to help, and his presence in Lentari becomes known. And it's the crown prince who is the real target of the Lentarian king's enemies.

Rescuing the queen, battling thieving invaders, outsmarting repulsive trolls, and trying to stay one step ahead of someone who is bent on acquiring Mikal at all costs, Steve and Sarah must use all the powers at their disposal to keep their young charge safe.
