their chemistry is insane, I can not put into words how incredible this story was. please do yourself a favor and read the books and also watch the show.

I was so confused by the way people talk about this book and the actual content, that I even checked multiple times that I was listening to the right "Heated Rivalry" lmao
When I listened to the prologue, I was surprised that it already started with a sex scene. I thought, "Oh, the author is giving us an appetizer because it's gonna take a long time before the characters get together again...".
But no? I couldn't have been more wrong. This book is just a series of sex scenes after another. Even when the characters aren't having sex, they're thinking of it. That's the entire book. There are some minor subplots, like Ilya's relationship with his dad, but they really felt like an afterthought. Again, every scene was just a setup to make the protagonist get it on.
Overall, the book read like erotica fan-fiction to me. Especially since, more than once, I had the feeling that Shane was actually written to be a girl.
Ilya is really what kept me hooked. He was so fun and cooky. I can understand why Shane was all over him.
Apparently, the real "meat" of the story is in the sequel, so maybe I'll give it a chance to see what all the fuss is about. Because this one was quite disappointing. It's just a very standard, clichéd erotica romance.
Really enjoyed the narration. However, at times, I thought the narrator made Ilya sound like Sean Connery rather than russian. I didn't mind thought since I loved that tone lol
