Sintesi dell'editore

Abby was young, only a junior in high school. Her entire life waited before her, with big plans to go to college. Her parents were strict, stricter than most parents, and sex before marriage was not tolerated in her church. Jimmy was a high school senior with a basketball scholarship to an ivy-league college.

When they meet at a party, one that Abby snuck out of the house to attend, their lives head down completely different paths when she ends up pregnant. Jimmy is determined to stand by Abby, but when her overbearing parents and their extremist church find out about the pregnancy, the young couple is torn apart, with devastating consequences.

Pastor David Owens answers Abby's call for help when she appears at his church. She is on the brink of suicide, threatening to take her infant daughter with her. David had been grumbling about his new position, questioning why God had sent him to this small coastal town, now he thinks he knows exactly why: he's meant to save this girl's life.

Could Not Put Down!

Audiobook

Narration - Kelly Mack, Conner Goff - Really Good.

This is a book with a lot of Spirituality, which I’m not normally into, but I gotta say, I loved this book.

Abby is on the brink of suicide and plans to take her infant daughter with her when she drives by a church and decides to call. The phone is answered by David, the pastor of the church.

This story is told through a phone conversation between Abby and David as he carefully questions her and finds out her entire story, while a group of parishioners work in the background to try to help out this distressed young woman. Her story begins with her unknowingly drinking some spiked punch at a party and allowing a boy to have his way with her.

Her parents are fanatically religious, belonging to an extremist church, and in their attempt to raise God fearing children the rod is not spared.

She’s locked in a closet, called a fornicator, whipped with a belt, back-handed regularly by her mother. Truly, her parents are the worst kind of evil.

Her boyfriend and their relationship is a little too perfect to be believed. But her parents are such a hot mess, I suppose there didn’t need to be added drama in the boyfriend part of the story.

Really enjoyable book that I honestly could not put down, with characters I wanted to punch, and others I wanted to hug. And be prepared for some twists and turns along the way.

Compelling

What did you love best about Twisted Faith?

I loved that Pastor Dave at New Hope Christian Church cared so deeply for her with true Christian love, and then that love spread throughout the other key church members who happened to come during the crisis that evening. It exemplifies how powerful Jesus' love is.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Twisted Faith?

The most memorable moments are the extreme punishment Abby received from her parents. It cuts through to the core, because you know how wrong it is, but they are executing the punishment thinking they are doing the "right thing". It is so twisted. And the sad part is knowing that this actually does happen at times in cults and even in some "christian" homes. Such a terrible thing to twist scripture.

Which scene was your favorite?

When you find out that Abby's boyfriend is not dead!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Abby's boyfriend said he purchased a promise ring as well. When her boyfriend's parents showed up at the church to love and accept her.

Any additional comments?

Narration was done with excellence!

Question for author: Abby thought her beloved was dead because that's what her parents told her, but what about all her friends and classmates she ran into. Why did they also think he was dead?

AWESOME!! Best book in a long time!!!

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. Am I ever glad I asked for it. There are no words to describe how wonderful this book is. I began to listen and couldn't stop. Although I had to stop to get some sleep. However, I finished it when I got out of bed the next morning. It is written very well and the authors did an excellent job with the story. I admit I had happy tears at the end. This is just such a feel-good book. Even with all the turmoil within the story. The narrators did an incredible job with the story. They brought the characters to life and made the story that much more enjoyable. What an awesome and life enriching story. Such an eye opener when I know there are people out there just like Abby's family, not to mention the wonderful, forgiving, loving family in the church. Thanks so much for giving us listeners such an incredible story.
