Sintesi dell'editore

It all started with a blind promise - now Preston Wilson faces a dilemma that will ultimately destroy him or define him.

In The Collectibles, Book One of the Collectibles trilogy, James J. Kaufman delivers the gripping and unforgettable story of Joe Hart and Preston Wilson, two strong men from different worlds - one touched by tragedy, the other by greed - brought together by a promise that changes six lives forever.

In The Concealers, Book Two of the trilogy, Kaufman's listeners meet Katherine Kelly, a budding journalist driven to find the truth. As she investigates bank fraud in Long Island, she discovers the identity of her father, only to learn that he is being drawn into her investigation. Too soon, she learns the agony and price of the truth she seeks.

In The Conciliators, the conclusion of the Collectibles trilogy, Preston Wilson's life is once again imploding - this time as headline news, bylined by Katherine Kelly. Under fire thanks to the financial shenanigans of a longtime friend, the CEO finds himself in trouble with the FBI, the Russian Mafia, and his creditors. If he doesn't come up with a plan (and quickly), he could lose everything and find himself, his wife, and his shareholders in prison.

Inspired by Joe Hart's life lessons, Preston sets a new course, vowing to fight for what matters most: his family, his friends, and the Collectibles.

This is some GRAND FINALE!!

Which character – as performed by Joe Barrett – was your favorite?

All! And I wish Joe Barrett would narrate more mystery/thriller books. He is one of the narrators I regularly search for and because of him I found these books.

Any additional comments?

If you have read my reviews of the first two books in this trilogy you will know that I think these book are phenomenally well written and narrated. I honestly think these three books are my favorites of this year. I sincerely hope James Kaufman will continue to write books of this caliber. Most HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You.

The Collectibles Trilogy of legal thrillers

The Collectibles, The Concealers, and The Concillators are best thought of as a single 32 hour novel. The primary protagonist of the trilogy is attorney Joe Hart. Although Joe Hart dies of a malignant brain tumor in Book 1 (The Collectibles) it is the force of his honesty, expectations of himself, and his impact on his friends, the wounded souls he collected, and their friends that determines the outcome of the trilogy. In another sense one could view judgmentally challenged auto dealership magnate Preston Wilson, the most capable and most blundering of the wounded souls, as protagonist. Or neophyte turned star journalist Katherine Kelly could be viewed as the protagonist. The character other than Joe Hart himself who best exemplifies what he stood for is Katherine Kelly.

Although a legal thriller the real message of the Collectibles trilogy is the importance of honesty and making/keeping commitments in the relationships, personal or business or otherwise, of people. One can only wish that at least a few of elite journalists with national publications like NYT, WP, and WSJ shared Katherine Kelly's commitment to honesty.

These three books are easily the best I have read or listened to this year. The narration of Joe Barrett is stellar.

Finally, it likely seems that I pick many of the books I listen to and review are based on reviews by Audible Listener Shelley. It's true. If you like thrillers, may I suggest that you follow her reviews also. And give her "helpful" votes when her reviews are helpful. (I have never met or communicated with Shelley!)

Wonderful Trilogy

I enjoyed these books so much, I listened to one a day and with little sleep in so doing! Excellent storytelling and narration. I wish there were more! The author cleverly tied it all together in a satisfying, intelligent, and uplifting conclusion--and that's a rarity.

I loved the entire series! It's disappointing to have reached the end of the third book.

Pure listening pleasure

I liked the concept of taking care of others...an overlooked practice in this day and age.

One of the best trilogies ever!

The three books in The Collectibles are fantastic. While most books in a series don't usually have to necessarily be read in order, if you don't read book 1 of this trilogy first you miss much of the richness. What a wonderful character of John Hart! His goodness, kindness, and principles were enough to carry 3 books!

This book nicely tied up most of the lose ends. The narrator was great too, although I laughed at the deep Irish brogue reading "a slight Irish brogue"!

Great series

This series was a great story, great lessons learned and a great message to be had. Read all three in the series, and at the end you'll have that, "now what do I read or do" feeling.

Family is who you make them

Fantastic listen. The "how to become a better person" story. I loved it. Slow and quiet with intensity. Great characters and a fantastic way of storytelling.

Boring book 2 OF The Concealer trilogy.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

It the storyline was more interesting and didn't recycle the first book.

Would you ever listen to anything by James J. Kaufman again?

Probably not.

Have you listened to any of Joe Barrett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I really enjoy Joe Barrett as a narrator. He tried to improve the story. Alas , it fail.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not any I can recall. I loved the Concealers and bought this book in good faith.

Any additional comments?

If you try this book, I hope you find it interesting. Just not for me obviously.
