Sintesi dell'editore

In this dog-eat-dog world, it’s people you have to keep your eye on.

When Lizzie Jones, pet sitter extraordinaire, is asked to watch over her best friend's two spoiled dogs at the posh gated community of Craggy Hill Estates, the last thing she expects is to wind up in the middle of a homicide. But that's exactly what happens when she finds her best friend's cheating husband and Danger Cove’s celebrity bodybuilder champ, Mr. Jupiter, floating face-down in his hot tub. To make matters worse, the police aren’t looking any further than the wife for a suspect - isn’t it always the wife? Well, not in this case - at least Lizzie refuses to believe it.

Between dealing with Craggy Hill's hot security guard, Tino Morales - who also just happens to be the man who broke Lizzie’s heart in high school - caring for her grieving friend, and watching three rambunctious dogs, Lizzie has her hands full. So she recruits her famous granddad, retired network field correspondent, Jimmy John Jones, to help her put two and two together to find the real killer.

Was Mr. Jupiter murdered by one of his women on the side? A jealous, disgruntled employee? Or someone with a bitter and deep-seated hatred of the superstar? It's up to Lizzie, Jimmy John, and Lizzie's own pug, Vader, to crack the case before the killer claims another victim...this one much closer to Lizzie’s own heart!

A DELIGHTFUL AND ABSORBING COZY MYSTERY !

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story. The narrator, Angie Hickman did a fantastic job bringing the main character, Lizzie Jones to life and made it easy to differentiate the personas of the other characters.

The authors, Sally Smith and Jean Steffens did a wonderful job creating a story with many twists and turns and dilemmas as Lizzie, her grandfather Jimmy John, and Tino, her new love interest, struggled to prove the innocence of Lizzie's friend, Caroline, of the murder of her husband, Mr. Jupiter.

The attention to descriptive detail and the down to earth dialogue create an atmosphere of adventure and camaraderie among Lizzie and her peers. The humorous quips and subtle innuendos add spice to the story.

Kudos to Jean and Sally for a job well done. AUTHOR! AUTHOR!
And kudos to Angie Hickman for a fantastic narration!

Dogs, mystery and a great narrator!

This is my first book in the Danger cove pet sitter series. I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review. For me what was not to like a great mystery, great characters, and dogs! This is a recipe for a great story. The narrator Angie Hickman had me hooked from the first. I just found myself going back for more. Win win as far as I am concerned.

Fun, Easy a good read

Entertaining and an enjoyable listen. Narration was pretty good, but would have been much better without the attempts at accents. I recommend the book, I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Blast

A Lovable Light Read

I voluntarily asked for and received a copy of this book for review purposes.

What do you do if you're a struggling veterinary student trying to come up with enough money to get back to school? You become the town's animal and house sitter, and you go after the wealthiest clients you can. That's Lizzie Jones's plan, and she's smart and capable enough to pull it off. One of her clients also happens to be her long-time best friend, Caroline. Caroline is married to a narcissistic body builder who has announced his intentions to leave her. But when the shallow body builder is found dead in the family hot tub, is it even remotely possible that Caroline killed him? There is no shortage of suspects; he tossed off one dalliance after another without any real regret once he tired of the conquest. It's up to Lizzie to sort through the town's sometimes-eccentric, sometimes-bizarre characters to determine who killed the guy, and it's a race against time, since local authorities are eager for a conviction.

While the plot and writing style will appeal to you, it is Angie Hickman's narration that will turn this from just another cozy mystery into something you'll remember and even revisit. Angie breathes so much life and vibrance into Lizzie that you'll feel sure she has watched and walked your dog. Hickman moves with so much verbal grace among the characters in this book. She is the youthful Lizzie, the somewhat saddr and wiser Caroline; she manages the characters such that there's never any confusion as to who's speaking. Her narrations are a treasure that adds tremendous value to an already fun cozy mystery with just a tiny bit of romance tossed in.

A fun new cozy, with a twist

This was a fun cozy mystery & was well narrated to differentiate between the different characters & their personalities. All of the characters are really likable & the love story is a bit cheesy, but that’s to be expected with cozy mysteries. The mystery isn’t predictable & had a bit of a twist.

I wish Lizzie didn’t call her grandpa “Jimmy John,” it’s a strange thing to me... and makes me think of sub sandwiches ha. But in all seriousness that’s my only qualm. It would be more authentic & cozy if it actually felt like a granddaughter & grandfather solving crimes together. Instead it feels like Lizzie and a friend. I was provided this review copy and gave my honest review.

Little mystery and a little laughter

This was a fun book. The characters were very likable and the story was a good mystery with some good laughs along the way. This was my first book in the Danger Cove series. It was a good upbeat book and I would certainly listen to more in this series. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Passion, Poison & Puppy Dogs

This is a fun cozy mystery, I absolutely loved the plot twist at the end. That always makes for my favorite mystery books! Lizzie and her grandpa (Jimmy John) must help clear her best friends name when she is arrested for killing her husband. With the fun & quirky cast of characters you have lots of suspects since no one really likes Mr. Jupiter, well unless you count all the women he was having affairs with.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyable quick and light

Would you listen to Passion, Poison & Puppy Dogs again? Why?

Yes, it was an enjoyable quick listen, nothing in depth you really had to think about, you could just relax and let your mind picture the events and surroundings. I am not saying I want to read it again immediately but it definitely is one for a day when I am stressed and just want a story that runs along on its own with no input from me.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Passion, Poison & Puppy Dogs?

For me the funeral ( don't think I am giving anything away about there being a funeral, it is a murder mystery after all - being from Scotland I had to suspend truth but then that is what these types of books are for to just be a story with no pretence of being realistic Yes its nice to have a book at times where the author(s) have to spend much time on research and everything is factually correct but sometimes you just want a book that is a story and artistic license makes it more interesting and fun. I have no complaints about this and would certainly read more by these authors

Have you listened to any of Angie Hickman’s other performances? How does this one compare?

First one

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Sorry no but then it was not that type of book so not really a fair question for it.

Any additional comments?

If you just want a book to listen to when you want to mentally relax then this book is great, no mental input needed. It has a plot in which everything hangs together well - the reader is not left saying hold on how can that be nor are they likely to work out who the murderer is in the first few chapters either - enough suspense and red herrings to keep you guessing.

I received this book free on the understanding I would give a fair review and this is what, in my opinion, I have done.
