Fast & funny!

This is a cozy surprise! Fame is a Killer is a quick mystery featuring Hope Hadley , an actress who has her TV show canceled, is dumped by her boyfriend finds herself as the suspect of his murder. With no alibi, she uses her learned skills from her acting role to seek out the murderer and clear her name. Holly is a strong character, and I find her easy to relate to. This is fast paced, has interesting characters and is full of lighthearted fun.

Rachel Carr's narration is full of the exaggeration and quirkiness that I expect with a character like Holly. She keeps a good pace and made for an enjoyable listen.

Not so cozy

Fame is a Killer - Cozy Mystery

Not as good as I was hoping for. I just couldn’t connect with the main character, finding her shallow and unlikeable. There is a lack of emotion in the story. It ended up being a mystery without the cozy.

The narration was okay, but there was no variety of voices for the different characters.

I received this audiobook free for an honest review from Audiobookworm.

Fame is a Killer

Fame Is a Killer is a short cozy mystery that moves right along. I was able to listen in one sitting and was satisfied with the storyline and narration. The perfect amount of mystery for a book of this length.

A great start to the series!

The audiobook Fame is a Killer: Hope Hadley Cozy Mystery Series, Book 1 by Meredith Potts, narrated by Rachel Carr is an exciting series that is fast moving and fun, with a storyline that is unlike any other cozies I've listened to. It's about Hollywood actress Hope Hadley, or should I say ex-actress, who is not only informed she is out of a job due to her show being cancelled, but also finds out her ex-boyfriend, of only one day, has been murdered, and she is the prime suspect! What's a girl to do when life starts to crumble? If you're Hope Hadley, you pick up the pieces and fight back!

Because I love the premise of this series, I immediately moved it to the top of my list and downloaded Book 1. The idea of an actress taking on the role of a real-life detective intrigued me. At a little over 2 hours, this couldn't be more perfect! Lately, I've enjoyed listening to shorter books in between the longer ones, so when I discovered the Hope Hadley Cozy Mystery Series, I was thrilled! Its well-written and fast-moving plot is engaging and easy-to-listen to. I'm looking forward to learning more about the characters and their future endeavours.

The narration took some getting used to on my part, but as time went on, I realized that Rachel Carr is Hope Hadley. The pace, volume, and speed of her narration was right-on, and her use of inflection added to the development of the characters as a whole. It is clear this audiobook was professionally recorded, as there was nothing in the background that distracted my listening.

I've taken it upon myself to purchase the entire series, and I'm looking forward to learning more about these characters! I love the short length of these audiobooks, as they make the perfect companion while driving to and from work. I recommend the Hope Hadley Cozy Mystery Series to those who enjoy engaging storylines, quirky characters, and clean mysteries. If you're ready to find out if you have what it takes to solve the case, hop on board! I think it's going to be quite an interesting ride.

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

Great Book!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. The narrator did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

I Wanted To Like It

Maybe it was the narrator or the story but this cozy mystery was hard to take. Maybe if I read the paperback I might have been able to enjoy this. I'm sure the narrator is fine, as I can see from several 4-5 star reviews. But not for me. I found the reading in ITALICS grating and it was hard, for me, to concentrate on the story.
Too bad as I'm always looking for a new series. I will be returning this boo.

Nice start to a new series

I love cozy mysteries. I especially love them when they are well-done. I thought I knew the whodunnit with this listen but it was a nice surprise to find out that I was wrong. Love that.

The main character played a cop on TV. When her series ends, the fun ensues. Her efforts to find out who killed the man that jilted her was just good detective work.

The narration was well done and played well with the subject. All in all, a nice start to a new series.

Nice little mystery

This book was a nice book from the usual. A quick mystery. Hope Hadley has had her television show cancelled. She is dumped by her boyfriend. Could anything else go wrong? As the saying goes, don't ask that. Next her ex boyfriend comes up dead and who is the prime suspect... her. To clear her name she has to find the real killer. It kept me listening. The narrator has a good voice but needs to have variation in tone to reflect the circumstances of the characters.
