Sintesi dell'editore

Faye Longchamp is overjoyed to be paid to do archaeological work she would have done anyway - excavating a site that was once her family's. But that joy ends abruptly when intruders break into a dear friend's house and leave him dead among the scattered remains of Faye's artifacts.

There seems to be no motive at all for the vicious crime...unless the thieves were aware of the fabulous emerald he had been holding minutes before his death. But the open wall safe is untouched, and choice artifacts are still in their cases. Only Faye's field notes are missing.

Faye seeks out the story behind the mysterious emerald. How was her fieldwork connected to her friend's death? The key to all her questions must be buried in the field notes now held by the killers. Now it is only a matter of time before they come for Faye.

"Faye's capable fourth is a charming mixture of history, mystery, and romance." ( Kirkus Reviews)

You Go! Mary Anna Evans

I gobbled up your first book and really enjoyed it. I patiently waited for your next two books, then our local bookseller who sold books from local authors closed up and my life got busy. I was thrilled to find that Mary Anna Evan is continuing to write excellent novels about my part of the world with depth and an understanding of how the world really works. I love her novels and hope she keeps writing more. Now I have all of them!

spoiler

** spoiler alert ** Story 4, narration 3. Another intriguing story involvoing the intereting world of pot hunters, both legal and illegal. The archaeology aspects of this series are always fun to delve into. The uniqueness of the characters Joe and Faye are really refreshingly atypical. The other lesser characters are also well drawn and interesting, and some will be missed.
There are civil war journals and letters, buried treasure, thievery, and murder to keep the story humming along. Also there are relationship issues to sort out.
As for the things I did not care for, I thought it very unlikely that Faye would leave her island and home unguarded when there are trespassers running rampant and pillaging her property. Also I could have lived without the references to the 'confederate gold' as it is a plot line that I think is overused.
It is a really enjoyable series.

FINDINGS

Do not waste your money. Very slow and boring. Usually love suspense novels, there was no suspense here and genuinely was not interested in the ending. Sorry, but could find no redeeming features here.

Another cracking tale!

Loved this one, and can’t wait to read the next one.
MAE makes her characters as vulnerable as they are strong and unpredictable. Captured my imagination and kept me reading. And I love the historical interlacing. Read it!
