The full release of The Last Town serial, with new original content!

It started in the Middle East. A flu-like plague that infected thousands and killed roughly 10 percent of its victims. Those who died awoke once again, but they were no longer among the living - they came back as soulless, carnivorous corpses who desired only one thing: to feed on living human flesh.

As the infection spread, across Europe and the rest of the globe, cities were overwhelmed. Nations fell. Humanity flickered like a candle flame in the wind.

In the United States: the nation's great cities are becoming hunting grounds. New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles.... All are falling victim to hordes of shambling dead who want only one thing: to devour the living.

Single Tree, California, is a small resort town in Inyo County. Between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, it's easy to overlook. And that's exactly what the citizens of Single Tree want, for the stenches and those fleeing them to ignore the town long enough for it to be transformed into a desert fortress at the foot of Mount Whitney.

But time is not on their side. Not only do they have to worry about the dead.... they have to fear the living.

One of the best I've listened to.

This has got to be one of the most exciting zombie apocalypse novels I have listened to. It is long, 24+ hours and the writing is excellent, the action and tension unstoppable, and the characters well defined and quite likable. This is the tale of a billionaire industrialist providing masses of men, weapons and equipment at the beginning of the apocalypse to fortify and save his home town. The basic plot is quite unassuming, but as I’ve said the writing and tempo is excellent. I can heartily recommend this novel to any zombie fan.

Generic with poor audio

Not bad, but nothing new.

The standard zombie apocalypse story you have read 100 times.

Interesting enough to finish, though. Not a waste of a credit.

Narration was neutral at best, but a large portion of the audio is full of background static. White noise like you would hear in a really old recording. Unprofessional, as even inexpensive recording equipment or simple post-process could have prevented that from making the final cut.

Average Dystopian Tale

Very average dystopian tale. However, you get the whole series in one fix...24hrs. The story could have been taken much further in that time. Especially since the characters are well thought out and there is some intriguing concepts that could have been developed more.

Narration is awful, but I think it speaks to low production standards and not the narrator.

Terrible story and narration

The narration was painful to listen to and in the end I gave up. The story was drawn out with far too many characters and side stories going on. With no pause between jumping scenes and characters the story is just one big muddle. Such a shame as I have enjoyed Stephen Knights precious zombie books immensely.

Wanted like it

I truly wanted to like this book but it had so many things going against it. first the narrator was not good for this book his voice was too deep and rasbury at times that it was hard to listen to him. second the quality of the audio was not great very staticy in the background. and 3rd I have not read any other Stephen Knight books but this particular book I thought relied a lot on racial slurs whether it was African-American, gays, Mexicans it stereotyped a lot of people. and lastly the book could have been so much shorter if it left out a lot of the humdrum details that was put into it or it could have put in more content of what's going on rather than how someone would fly an airplane or drive a boat or even a tank. for me this book was a complete let down. I hope Steven Knight other books is nothing like this one because if so it says a lot about his character and how he sees the world.

Smh this is trash Done with SK

Love how they made sure all the black characters were escaped criminals that they shot them in the legs to help stall the zombies after making them basically slaves. Screw you SK. You are trash

Listen to the sample before buying.

I like a gravelly voice. I really do. And the narrator here has one. The problem is that that is the ONLY voice he has. So every single character sounds like John Wayne after 3 packs of cigarettes. Plus, the narrator does that vocal inflection thing that William Shatner did on Star Trek. Awkward pauses at weird times. For example, at one point he is talking about the survivors eating and he says it like, "they still had the meals .....(long pause).... ready to eat." It's super annoying. Other than that, its an ok story. There is a lot of build up and not enough action, in my opinion. LOTS of meetings to discuss the town's defenses. Like I said in the title, listen to the sample before you buy. Mr. Alan is an acquired taste.

Was a great marathon audiobook

Reading all the other reviews made me nervous but I am grateful that I disregarded any negative reviews.... I am a loyal Zombie book reader and lister.....this and this one is in my top three favorite. Call complained about the narrator I just agree completely I think the narrator was dynamite and perfect for the story. Don’t miss this one I listened practically 24 hours straight

Immersive Story with Great Balance

Many zombie books seem to go down the gory and profane path and stay there. This story is more about the characters than the gore. I liked the build up and slow descent into chaos all the while having several likable characters. 24 hours of zombie apocalypse delight.

need to use sound reduction for better enjoyment

Great story but the background hissing noise on occasion was annoying.and detracted a little from the enjoyment. Otherwise it was a great book and performance.

Military and vehicles that’s about it.

Very disappointed with this one. It’s all
about fighting and either big or expensive vehicles and not a lot else. By the end, I didn’t even care who survived as there was hardly any character or real relationship development.
