Sintesi dell'editore

Life in a fae castle should be pretty sweet - except my lover wants to take my magic from me and I made a deal with the devil...literally.

Salem is the light-bringer, gorgeous as sin and just as evil. Some call him Lucifer. What do I call him? Whatever he tells me to, because he's cast a mind-control spell over me. He hates me, but I have a plan. I'll lead him to a sorcerer who can kill him.

But as I journey with the fallen god, I see him watching me, wanting me. And it's mutual. Turns out fate has a sick sense of humor because my destiny ties me to Salem. Still, I have to stop him before he gets what he wants. Because if I fail, he will unleash hell on earth.

WOW

I really really enjoyed this audiobook from beginning to the end and yes you are left with a cliffhanger. Anyways, the story and characters are very well written. I love the world the author created. This is a must get and I can’t wait until the next and book of the trilogy is available. Narrator did a great job as well.

Enjoyable

Good storyline, book two in a series. Narrators easy to listen to, not annoying. No glitches.

Just kinda boring

I had to force myself to finish this book. Maybe I’m just in a book funk, maybe my expectations are just too high because others rave about the series, but I struggled to connect to the characters. I find the main characters all unlikable and they do nothing to redeem themselves. I get that’s part of the world building but I can’t cheer for characters who are selfish and self centered and constantly hurt each other. The whole Fae community in these books seems pretty awful. The men are constantly using Aenor and gaslighting her. In this book in particular, her lover decides to take away her newly returned powers because he believes a prophecy over what he knows/has experienced of her and gets upset that she doesn’t docilely obey with his plan. Fight scenes fail to grab me, the switch between love interests was canned and unbelievable, the action falls flat and seems anticlimactic. Overall, for me, it’s a bland story.

The narrator does an okay job. She did give Salem his own distinct accent in this book (in the previous narration she just did a British accent for him) but she doesn’t pronounce Salem the same every time. It really takes you out of the story. Her cadence is off for me, almost too plodding. It made the story more of a slog.

2 books in 2 days...

I cannot put this down. I was a little confused at the epilogue. I was completely caught off guard by the ending and I'm completely for team soul mate. I wonder if his sister can forgive her also. Love the performance. I've been a Justine Eyre fan since a JLA series.

As I have always found with this author, this was an amazing read (or listen in this case). Well this book definitely took an interesting and exciting turn since book 1. We still get plenty of Aenir, but now she has a different man around. We met Salem at the end of book 1. He definitely cares for nothings but his own interests and he will do anything to achieve them.

Such a great read/listen and after that ending I absolutely will need to continue on to book 3 asap.

So Salem is Aenor's mate! Lyr is determined to make her life miserable in the name of saving the world and they both want her, despite what they tell themselves or her. Aenor sure as hell got her work cut out for her.

I liked this better than book 1. I just hope book 3 isn't a disappointment.
