Sintesi dell'editore

This self-described “Midwestern mom” found a way to heal the trauma of a violent marriage entirely on her own. She created a ritual, which her doctor now recognizes and recommends as a tool for recovery from abuse.

raw honesty

This was my 1st time listening to Sincerely X from TED & I'm glad this type of platform is available for the speaker & the listener. I'm amazed with the speaker's ability to not only to share her story, but do so with such raw honesty.

Rescued by ritual

Interesting story. I think a lot of people do things similar and just don't realize they are doing what she is talking about

Good to listen

It's good to listen. The sound effect is nice. Some times, she was speaking so fast so I couldn't understand or catch that words.

Please stop this.

O.K. I've tried the first two episodes in this series. Well, to be honest, only about five minutes of the second episode. The TED Curator was the first. It grated but I could live with it because she was only a small part. Then the woman who's story this was started. The same. Cut that short and on to the second episode. First on, June Cohen the curator again. Then another woman who's story this episodes about and the same problem. All of them speak using vocal fry. It grates. It's like nails being drawn down a blackboard. Corrugated iron sheets being dragged across each other. Listening to this is torture. This is not natural. What's really worrying is that it seems to be spreading. Please stop it. I'm convinced that if I keep listening someone using this dreadful voice will say 'Like, really? That's so disrespectful'.

a real eye opener

it shows you what to be thankful and that everybody has their own struggle and its what you make of your own circumstance that bring the best of a person. it thought me not to be dismissive to myself and give people the benefit of the doubt even thought it would be the third chance you gave them.

Mindful Love

A woman tells the story of her abusive marriage, which must have been horrid at times, not only for her, but, of course, also for the children. We hear how she developed a ritual, standing under the shower and thinking strongly of all the people she loved, and how this helped her to stay strong.

I found this sometimes difficult to listen to for various reasons: the woman speaks quite fast and is on occasions hard to understand. There's nice background music, which sadly can drone out the narration.
Worst of all was for me to listen to the woman telling us, she didn't leave her abusive husband because of her children.
Seriously?
A male, who dislocates the shoulder of his partner is someone you report to the police and then take your kids and get away as far and as fast as you can. Living with someone like that, is not a safe or a safer place than leaving. He is out of control. Thinking of the people you love under the shower might help you, it doesn't give your kids anything who are forced to live in such a hell everyday.

At the end of the recording are around 2 minutes of advertising for the next episode.

Overall OK, I really liked the music and it's a nice idea for practising mindfulness, but nothing I would listen to again.
