Sintesi dell'editore

The collection isn’t complete without her….

The writer becomes the story when crime reporter Mia Hale is discovered on a beach in Jacksonville, Florida—bloodied and disoriented but alive. She remembers nothing, but her wounds bear the signature of a sadistic serial killer. After years lying dormant, the Collector has resumed his grim hobby of abducting women and taking gruesome souvenirs before dumping their bodies. Not one of his victims has ever escaped—and he wants Mia back more than he ever wanted any of the others.

FBI agent Eric MacFarlane has pursued the Collector for a long time—the case runs deep in his veins, bordering on obsession—and now Mia holds the key. She’ll risk everything to recover her memory and bring the madman to justice, and Eric swears to protect this fierce, fragile survivor. But the Collector will not be denied. In his mind he knows just how their story ends.

"A smooth prose style and an authentic Big Easy vibe distinguish Tentler’s debut...the shivers are worthy of a Lisa Jackson." (Publishers Weekly)
"A compelling plot, thick suspense, a cunning villain, a shattered cop, and a victim who wants answers at any cost place Tentler in the same category as bestselling authors Lisa Jackson and Beverly Barton. Four and a half stars rating." (RT Book Reviews)

Leading Lady TSTL

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I have now read all three of the books in this series - my 2 quibbles are the lack of real passion between the main characters - or - the believability of it. And in all three of these books the leading female character has 2 or three instances of completely too stupid to live moments where she puts herself in danger after significant threats have already been made. I find that a very annoying trait in someone who should have more sense.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The actual mystery plot was good. The leading lady's dumb moves kept pulling me out of the story.

Was Edge of Midnight worth the listening time?

It was o.k. Could have been a lot better with a smarter leading character. She would do smart things and then turn around and do something so stupid it pulled you out of the story and made you want to give up on the book.

Great psychology!

As a counselor myself, I am attuned to mistakes when counselors are used. This series was so on point it made me wonder if the writer was a counselor. I looked but couldn’t find any information on her besides her books. One phrase I could specifically relate to in this series was, “She knew she could help her.”

Unnecessarily grusome, mystery disappointing!

Least enjoyable of the 3 in the series. Instead of being a psychological Thriller /Suspense promised. It was just a calamity of errors by apparently very incompetent professionals. I kept asking WHY would the these characters act this way.

Why would a FMC that is found traumatized to the point of being found in shock and rendered mute insists on immediately going back to work and take such absurd risks with her life after being kidnapped and tortured. Not believable. Why wasn't an FBI Victim Specialist assigned to work with her? Why wouldn't her employer insist she get counseling or a psych evaluation before returning to the workplace.

Why would the MMC not think the unsub might be following the victim or himself after establishing the killer is focused on them both. 🤔 Doesn't make sense. Why would protection police officers act so flippantly or give in so easily knowing the guy is a serial killer... wouldnt they would have at least Tried to protect the victim or at least not just walk into a no win situation. Apparently this was one very lucky unsub.

Also there were several superfluous sub characters that didn't add anything to the storyline, not even red herrings snce the author makes the identity of the killer known immediately. I thought (hoped) the killer was going to surprise me with some well thought out scheme, as in book one. Or there would be twists and surprises as in book two. Instead the plot is frought with stereotypical characters lacking dimension. Especially the killer! The one 'bombshell' is how he is previously tied to the victim. However, it is utterly ridiculous 🙄!

There were little things that were not well researched like the Jacksonville police, nor the FBI cleanup murder sites. It is actually left to the victims family or the owner of the l9cation to cleanup the mess (shocking right, but that's the way it is.) It is left to be cleaned up themselves or hire a professional service to do so. In addition you can't see Anastasia Island from Montanzabay, they run parallel to each other down the same coast.
The redeemable point regarding this book is the change in narrator from the previous books. This gal is terrific!

whoa...

not what I expected.... very good... kept me on my toes the whole time... I like how there were times you got the killers point of view and thoughts and not just the main characters... that was kinda cool... really enjoyed the listen...

Loved the trilogy

Leslie Tentner has a great way of keeping you on the edge of you seat with this trilogy. The books are separate and not connected as I imagined a trilogy would be, so the order doesn’t matter. It was a pleasant surprise as all three are exciting. The narrator, Bernadette Dunne, has an excellent voice! I highly recommend!

delicious Read!

not for the faint hearted because of the glory details and sinister protagonist, but a feast of plots, clues, characters, as well as some food for thought on one or two social issues.

Really enjoyable listen.

Enjoyed everything about this trilogy. No silly supposedly sexy voices for the bedroom scenes either. All narration was easy to listen to and kept you entertained.

Will look for more by this author

Glad this was free

Usual damaged hero , fragile heroine. Serial killer thrown in. So predictable. I used it to fall asleep to . Glad I never paid for it . Gave it 2 stars as it was a brilliant sleep aid. All books by this author have the same sort of story. No originality
