Both Cal and Dale have become stronger, each in spite of the other.
The dungeon - Cal - knows exactly how much their power has increased and is working daily to become exponentially more powerful. His schemes are becoming more complex and his dungeon - his body - more deadly.
Dale works to subvert the plans of the dungeon, but his opponent is onto him. Hearing a voice in his head distracts him in critical moments, requiring him to fight his mind even as he battles deadly creatures. Unbeknownst to both, their fight is not with each other - it's for the continuation of their lives.
Madness threatens the land, and it is coming for them.

decent book but the ending will irritate you
most of the book was light-hearted but the ending seemed out of place with its change in tone. I found myself becoming irritated. definitely worth getting.

So good!
This book was released just after I finished the first book and now I can't wait for the third one. The world is more centered around the dungeon in this book and the story all as the characters are great.
Cliffhanger ending that will make you long for the next book. It's released already but I guess it takes a while to record an audio version.
Even if you're not a DnD fan you'll love this book!

love it! where is book 3 for audible preorder??
this book developed much more than the first. book 1 was great but i enjoyed this one more. There was more action and buildup and a freakin cliffhanger!

great and unique story with triple A narrating.
This story was engaging and incredible with memorable and lovable characters. I found myself forgetting that it was narrated because this guy is so good at making different characters with his voice. what a team this author and narrator make. I'll be waiting now for the next in the series.
PS why can't the song of ice and fire series have this narrator?? lol

It's okay... but
The characters and their interactions all feels so fake and forced. The nasty nobles are so nasty is comical, the good nobles are so good its eye-rolling. And most characters seem to flip between extreme emotional states willy-nilly. If the plot/joke requires an certain emotion or level of stupidity then that will be assigned to the character no matter if it fits with their personality or history.
A angry, prideful and strong man is insulted, humiliated, threatened and then sent on an errand by a man he views as inferior to himself. Instead of leaving with clenched fists and a grinding jaw, he slinks off, pale skinned and trembling with fear. No, just no.This kind of thing happens way to often. Please work on this.
Also, Dale (our new main character), I don't like him at all.
But other than that it was good. Looking forward to book 3.

Continues a Fun and Exciting Adventure
Vikas Adam inflects plenty of personality into the varied characters of this new series by the author Dakota Krout. Keep an ear out for subtle pop culture references!

Great Book
Another great story. I do not want to ruin any part of the story for anybody but I will tell you that once you get into the story it keeps you listening. I normally listen only at work but this book kept me going at home. I can not wait for the third installation of the series. I had to buy the actual book so I can get a sneak peek.

The author continues to amaze me. Before moving on to another Audible book, I listened a second time and found it just as fascinating as the first.

A good story made mediocre for a cheap laugh.
An otherwise solid story is disrupted by multiple 4th wall-breaking self insertions (such as having multiple characters call the main character by the author’s name on “accident”). Each occurrence jarred me out of the story and just made me safe that the author didn’t treat this story as well as it deserved. It’s only mediocre, but it could have been good.

Mostly solid, lots of fun
This sequel to Dungeon Born has a lot of the same fun spirit as the first book. Cal is cheerfully and childishly homicidal towards the adventurers (and others) who enter his maw, Dale progresses nicely, and the interplay between the two is delightful. The characters remain a bit shallow, but not annoyingly so.
The voice acting really carried the playful tone of the story and Cal's last line was chilling. Adam's voice was unfortunately bland so sometimes i had a hard time telling his lines apart from the narration.
There are two things of which i must complain, unfortunately, both knock their reflective caretakers down a star.
First is the clunky and disruptive self references of the author in the book. They seemed forced and painfully wedged in. Like the story itself was in pain for their presence.
The second is that the voice actor clearly had not heard the words ingots or reagent said out loud before. I found myself correcting the actor out loud after the umpteenth time he said reagent as "re-agent". I was able to contain the compulsion for "in-got" possibly because ingot was written fewer times in the story.
But i wouldn't key that stop you from listening to this delightful series. Next please!

Amazing growth
An amazing second installment. I loved how much Cal grew and the chaos that reigns around. It really developed the characters at the same time whilst they are growing even more into the people that they can be. Some of the monsters are just soo cute and yet deadly which is an amazing combination. I love the interaction between Cal and Danni it really makes the book pop. I could not put this down. Am really looking forward to the next set of calamities.

So good
Just came back from book 4. This story just gets bigger and bigger. The ending of this book might cause you disappointment, but don't despair. It's all for a purpose and worth it in the end.

GOOD BOOK
I have over 300 audible titles and I have to say that the narration and performance of this book is one of the best I've heard. It's a compelling universe with a great story and awesome characters

BOOM!
Book 2. All I can say is wow! I'm shocked. Bring on book 3! I need to know what happens next!
... on that note it's a great continuation of book 1, you see some great character development and the book retains its humour and amazing plot

Just wanted to say the narrator was great, I love Vikas Adam's works and I don't really know what some other people mean by saying hes trying to hard or isnt very good, I think he did a briiant job at narration, the story was really great as well.

Enthralling and irritating
The premise of the Divine Dungeon series is refreshing and the universe quickly draws you in, sadly the immersion is periodically shattered by lazy writing and a voice actor trying to hard. The books are worth listening to and we can only hope that Dakota Krout develops as a writer to do justice to the brilliant concept of the Divine Dungeon.

Not bad overall.
Story is still interesting but it's just a shame about the narrator really. I can't help but compare him to other narrators who are easily more talented.

a fresh truly great book
it has been a while since I have enjoyed series so much and looked forward to another one.
The story is interesting, progress fast and dungeon itself smart and funny. The explanation for dungeon mechanics also well though. highly recommended

Improving
The overly intrusive emotional prose from the first book has been toned down for this one. I liked the direction and progression of the story and am looking forward to seeing where it goes.
