The good: action, suspense, lively characters, fun bits, the old rhyme motif which is suitably twisty, the “double double” motif also very engaging.
The awkward: female characterization again not aging well by our standards, with a sort of “innocent savage in need of a guiding - male - hand”, but it is generally treated with a certain sweetness that somewhat soothes the issue.
