Sintesi dell'editore

Private eye Jake Sullivan is a war hero - and an ex-con. He's free because he has a magical talent, and the Feds need his help in apprehending criminals with their own magical abilities. Jake's talent is gravity spiking. He can vary the force of gravity however he wishes in an area. When it comes to spiking, Jake is the best.

Now a rich beauty walks into his office to hire Jake to find her missing husband, a magical healer who has ties to the Detroit mob. Jake takes the case, but little does he know that there are plots within plots waiting to ensnare him, and solving the case may require fighting for his life with the odds stacked against him. But Jake is used to that. And now it's Christmas. Time to deck the walls with splattered bodies!

Detroit Christmas is a richly imagined, fully produced audio play, with original music, film-quality sound effects, and an amazing cast.

PINCHOT MAKES THIS SERIES

Any additional comments?

Heavy Jake Sullivan can only be done justice by Pinchot.
I don't have any issues with the audio drama format, I loved Locke and Key, but the casting for this short story was done quite poorly.
I love the Grimnoir series and can't wait for the next full length book read by Bronson Pinchot!

Good, But...

...It just didn't feel like a Grimnoir story without Bronson Pinchot voicing Heavy Jake Sullivan. Fun story, though.

Hard to follow the plot with radio style drama

I could not finish it. The exposition was stilted and ugly without a narator. They seemed to love using the gunfire sound effect to cover mediocre lines. Possibly if I had read the story in novel form i would have enjoyed hearing it acted out as a radio drama, but i dont think so.

Please don't adapt any more of Correia's books.

You do his excellent books a great disservice and tarnish my memories of Bronson Pinchot's brilliant narration. I will now have to go back and listen to Hard Magic again.

please stay with Bronson Pinchot

I love Larry's work, especially the grimoire series, but even though Detroit Christmas was an ok story, I was distracted with the sound effects and the old time Radio feel. I was looking forward to Mr. Pinchot's fantastic reading of Larry's writing with it's captivating characters and descriptive stories. If this script type writings leeds to movie or TV writing, I'm super happy for him, but I feel that his books are best read by Mr. Pinchot. Larry will always get my money, but I hope this make it to him and he returns to what he's done in the past.

Meh

I prefer Bronson Pinchot personally. Story is just too short and rushed. Lacks a lot of what makes Correia's books great.

horrible!

it's a bad adaptation of Larry's short story, not worth listening to. It's easily the worst audio book I've ever heard.

Deleted after 15 minutes.

Overproduced, badly acted, and filled with extra noises.

Even for $1, I regret paying for it.

This is the worst thing I have downloaded yet.

Great voice acting but sound effect overlap not go

Captures detective noir very well, and the inclusion of magic is icing on the cake. Great story and voice acting but muddled at times by overlapping sound effects. Need both effects and voices, but should be separated, or effects shouldn't overpower the voices.

Cheezy Radio drama!

Ugh, if you're a fan of the "Grimnoir Chronicles" and are over the age of 10 steer clear! Cheezy dialog, sound effects, and voice performances.

Don't start with this

Read the main books first. This is not the best introduction to the world or the character. A Christmas Special.

Story is a bit disjointed.

Other audio books in the Grimnoir Chronicles are much better. So don't stop with this one.

Disappointing

I'd really enjoyed the books in the series but this was just nowhere near as good. It's more like a radio play and the characters were shallow.
