Sintesi dell'editore
Butch Karp has never shied away from a difficult case, and when Croatian terrorists hijack a plane and kill an NYPD bomb squad cop in a bomb blast, he’s eager to prosecute the high-profile killers. But Karp’s aggression puts him at risk when his investigations uncover messy government secrets. Certain elements of the FBI and CIA don't want the trial to go forward, and are willing to go to extremes to sabotage Karp’s case. Mired in local bureaucracy and international intrigue, only Karp’s dogged determination - along with the help of his crime-fighting partner and girlfriend, Marlene Ciampi - can once again deliver justice.

Entertaining
This was a better listen than I was expecting from a number of the online reviews. Most of those were critical of the lack of realism in the plot. There is some truth to that in the context of a 2015 terrorist case, but back in the day when this were set, days when smoking was permitted on all parts of the plane and they only took away your machete at the gate if you were twirling it recklessly (and then not all the time and they gave it back to when you were seated), maybe the criticism is a bit too pointed. Also, this is a fun book, with a fun sub-text and a couple (or six) very engaging characters. So maybe strict realism was not the whole deal. I, for one, did not find the lack of realism too off-putting. On top of that, I like the little personal Butch twist at the end and I was looking forward to his next incarnation, up the pecking order in the DA's office.
Traber Burns continues to capture the players well. I suspect that he will be part of the fabric before too long and, if I ever pick up a real book to read the exploits of Butch and Marlene, all I'll hear in my hear is Burns.

ROFL!
This is a farce. Nope, not an indictment, a definition. Whoever wrote this book, and there's a bunch of controversy over that (Was it someone named Tanenbaum? Does anyone named Tanenbaum exist? Was it some guy named Michael Gruber? Does he exist? My head's going to explode... Go Google 'em and you decide.) But I digress...
Listen to "Depraved Indifference" as a slow-starting, over the top, jump the shark, broad and blue-humored FARCE! Do that and this book's fun. Oh, it's dirty as a 1970s Red Foxx at work in a smokey grownups' supper club... Adult stuff. And if you watch life through a PC filter... Don't... I'm warning ya'.... DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS BOOK! You will be sooooooo offended that you will become incontinent for weeks.
Me? I'll probably get the next book in this series :-}

Enjoyable Series
This is great escapist writing. It isn't literature. It isn't a documentary (at least, I hope not). People do things and get away with things that would never match a real life story.
However, there are characters, some of whom are real "Characters!". There are some funny scenes, and some sad ones. There's humor, backstabbing, manipulation and loyalty. There's love, friendship and family.
Just dive in and enjoy some time away from reality. Have a little fun. Don't overanalyze the plot (there are a few weaknesses, but no glaring holes).
I'm off to read the next one now.
Traber Burns was very good with the delivery of the story

No Lesser Plea
Any additional comments?
I couldn't get through much of the first book in this series (No Lesser Plea). It got off to a bad start describing the criminals and crime, so I never got to the main characters who I hope were more likeable. So I returned it, and returned this one (second in series) as well because I assumed it was no better.
