Sintesi dell'editore
A chance encounter can change everything.
When Aly joined the Grayhart mission to find advanced civilizations within deep space, she didn't expect to be captured far from home and taken to Xolis, a galactic empire like none ever seen, ruled by the nillium, a powerful race with a serious god complex.
Now outsiders, Aly and her team of explorers are sent to the darkest place within Xolis: Lethe Maws. A mining city on a planet home to outcasts, slaves, and monstrous creatures lurking in the deep dark. It's home to the Dark One, a dangerous exile even the nillium fear, living at the bottom of the mines where all are warned never to go.
When Aly runs into the legendary alien in a very unlikely place, what she finds is no monster but a large, mysterious, nillium male with fierce silver eyes, who makes her heart race. But though the nillium outcast had reached for her, desiring to touch her, fascinated by her as she was of him, Aly soon learns he's not looking to be friends or possibly something more. What Aly doesn't know is that the Dark One - known by his kind as Ryziel, son of the nillium's now dead ruler - isn't looking for love or a mate. He's looking to get off Lethe Maws for good and return home to his brother, the only family who accepts him for who he is, the only one who matters. But the human woman brings out a darker part of him that he can't control; something he never thought possible. As he is determined to escape, he struggles to understand his need for her. A need to protect her. A need to claim her. He's determined not to let her get too close lest she be his undoing.
Try as he might to keep her at a distance, Aly will become the one thing Ryziel needs to be free.
Dark's Savior is a stand-alone novel in the Dark World Mates series.

Engaging
Aly is a great blend of strong and soft. She doesn't whine and is kind, but she also isn't afraid to fight for herself. Her relationship with Ryziel is nicely complicated. The book keeps moving with plot twists and extra adventure. The narrator was excellent and the story well written. I would highly recommend.

Slow to ignite
I have to admit that I liked the first book better in the series but this one had its good points too. In both cases Ms. Riley slowly builds up to the climax of the story. This tends to make the story drag a little bit in part. But makes the listener want to see what happens. Generally, I like it when there is a male and female narrator but I was disappointed in Ms. Costa. Her performance was well enough, but her voice was hoarse or husky to such an extent that I would get distracted from the story. I found myself wanting to clear my throat as I listened to her. Unfortunately, this made me want to give an average rating overall because of the voice. Mr. Kafer was good and he was why I gave two stars instead of one for the performance. Having said all of that, I do plan on listening to the next book in the series if there should be one.

It was entertaining
Ok I hate this forced written review crap. Sometimes I just don't have a lot to say! I was entertained, it wasn't horrible, it was good and sometimes that's perfectly fine.

Good story but spice is meh
I read the first book in the series and liked it so I decided to try book two. Overall the plot is good and I enjoy the duel narroration. I also like that the author makes nods to the first book without retelling what happened which can be the case in some sequels. It's interesting to see how the author paints a picture of relationships between different races on different planets and the world building is there without an excessive amount of detail which I personally like. My only issue with both books is the spice feels like an after thought. I have zero issues with books that just alluded to a spicy encounter, but thats is not the direction the author initially decided to take and with these books I don't feel like it was handled as well as it could have been. I hate it when authors start describing a scene and then fade to black and move on to the next topic in a blink of an eye. Personally for me, if you're going to go there then go there, Don't describe it some what in detail for the first hookup and the for the second interaction describe them starting to do it and just switch to the next topic. It makes those scenes feel sloppy and rushed. Especially when you consider the fact that this is an alien and a human coming together both having different ways of showing affection based on their culture. I feel like there could have been more exploration in getting to know those differences in addition to getting to know more about each other to further the relationship between characters. I'm still planning to read the third book because I want to see how this story continues to evolve but for all my spicy book lovers out there just be warned these books are more plot with a dash of mild spice.

Disappointing
I loved the first book in this series, but was so disappointed in this second book. It was so slow to get started with too much time spent describing the terrible conditions the humans we living in and so slow for the two lead characters to meet. When they did, there were no sparks. It fell flat. The last two hours was the best part. I feel like the story could have spent more time there and less time on the mining planet.

Really great but spice lacks
I’m still hung up on the lack of descriptive love scenes. Very wham bam. At least there was a few sentences of foreplay this time.
Other than that these stories are awesome and imaginative. And I really wanna overlook this hiccup about this part of the writing but reason I’m listening is for the spice. The mediocre spice level is a little disappointing.
If these were truly awful I wouldn’t even bother going on to the next book but the stories are so intriguing, I will be finishing the series.

A pretty solid Sci-Fi Romance
Overall, a good edition to the genre. Definitely higher on the Sci-Fi elements than a lot of books in the romance genre. There are also several horror elements, which add to the overall plot - but sensitive readers should be cautious.

Gripping story, let down by one of the two narrators
Lots of suspense and plot twists, I very much enjoyed the story. The female narrator was great, and gave life to the characters, all of my stars for performance are hers. I found the male narrator very hard work to listen to, he sounded permanently bored, and didn’t seem to be able to breathe life into any of the characters, or hold my attention when narrating the story. Sad really, because it really spoiled this audiobook for me
