Sintesi dell'editore

The compelling, beautiful narrative of Code Name God is one man's rags-to-riches story and, more profoundly, the vision of a world-class physicist seeking to integrate the findings of science, religion, and spiritual quest.

Born in the impoverished Indian province of Bengal, Dr. Mani Bhaumik became a scientist and co-invented the laser technology that made LASIK surgery possible. Upon realizing that fame and fortune could not provide him with the abiding happiness that we all seek, Dr. Bhaumik began the search for a deeper understanding of spirituality.

Code Name God chronicles the amazing life of a man who is from both the East and the West and who finally discovers that "happiness is an inside job". This book's prologue is read by Academy Award-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley.

"The author's personal odyssey is eloquently told and makes for fascinating reading." (Fritjof Capra, author of the international best-seller The Tao of Physics)
"Code Name God is an eye-opener into the rich life beyond the American Dream." (Indian Express)

East + West = God

We live today in a world so divided by religious ideas that there is a very real possibility that we won't survive these differences.

In a desire to get beyond religious misconceptions of basic spiritual concepts, many thoughtful people have followed one of two divergent philosophical paths of inquiry concerning the universe and our place in it.

Science and spirituality both seek the answers to this most fundamental question. While never quite at physical odds with each other, proponents look askance at each other for the other's naive understanding of reality. Yet a few individuals in both camps have been able to take a "quantum leap" of understanding and realize that science and spirituality should not just "agree to disagree".

Mani Bhaumik is one of these "leapers", whose early life happened to be suffused in mystical Hindu traditions. Yet, his talents for science and mathematics allowed him to escape the poverty and ignorance endemic to his community.

After he arrived in America, he used Hindu meditation as a method primarily of remaining calm and centered in the high-flying academic and business worlds he was now part of.

But when he began to ask whether "this is all there is", he wanted to explore the deeper realms of reality found through mediation; those spoken of in the Gitas, the sacred writings of his religious tradition.

As a man with one foot in science and one foot in mystical Hinduism, he came to realize that it was perhaps his dharma to create a bridge between the two.

The result is the narrative of a wonderful, poetic journey through his own life before he begins the even more fantastic journey into the realms of quantum theory and sublime mystical states.

Mani Bhaumik's journey is a model for our own journey through life. What I've found is that the most amazing thing about this journey is that once a stepping stone is reached, another one appears almost magically.

And it's only one step away.

Alternative View

This is a stunning book from many pespectives. It gives a wonderful laymans insight into how the universe was formed. It gives a story about how someone with humble beginnings can accomplish so much. And it gives a perspective on how the existance of God can be affirmed by scientific understanding. A nice listen.

Souls with bodies rather than bodies with souls

Most amazing and sensical explanation of the mind over matter I've ever read. it explains the most abstract concepts so we'll, it makes perfect sense.

Wanted more story, less science

Liked the story but too much science for me. I guess I should have expected that based on his background though.

Gorgeous Book

Beautifully written… poetic and thoughtful. And a brilliant observation of quantum physics. I love the narrator too… his voice is both soothing and commanding, just as I imagine the author. Love this work.

A headlight

It is a very interesting book is a nice life story towards the end of the book is actually getting interesting with all the meditation stuff I guess that’s the only area that I could really relate to some of it was wrong but I have no way to prove myself as far as I’ve been in the meditation and I’ve discovered more than others having a different direction across the plane of mental and physical and have met the dense energy and the dense energy is real for whatever that is of creation which is this is somebody who hasn’t met that level it does exist

A Profound Vision.

I really enjoyed this book. The science was presented in a user-friendly manner and the spiritual vision is inspiring.

A real soul searching

Never seen such a spirituality in science. A great book for minds divided between science and meaning of it.

Interesting life story and a spiritual twist.

Great life story. I really enjoyed hearing about what shaped his life's journey and what forces made it possible.
The technical parts of the book were harder to chew on, but may come in handy if there's ever a need to explain meditation to a Quantum Physics expert and vice versa.

Good story, not sure about the science

Some of the science/maths is out of date or wrong. Interesting stories involving India though.
