Sintesi dell'editore

The first thing every listener will want to know is whether Anne Shirley appears in these stories of Avonlea and Spencervale. She certainly does. As a matter of fact, page one starts off in this manner: "Anne Shirley was curled up on the window seat of Theodora Dix's sitting room one Saturday evening, looking dreamily afar at some fair starland beyond the hills of sunset. Anne was visiting for a fortnight of her vacation."

However, most of the people who appear in this book are new to listeners of the Anne books. There are Ludovic and Theodora, "Old Lady Lloyd" and Sylvia Gray, Felix Moore and his grandfather, Little Jocelyn and Aunty Nan, Lucinda Penhallow, old Man Shaw's Blossom, Olivia Sterling, and many, many others.

The charm of Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea is to be found on every page of this gently sentimental and enjoyably humorous book.

delightful vignettes

I love the fun scenarios Lucy M. Montgomery creates. Especially the anti-men characters. Poignent stories too, with a lot of wisdom and joy in life.

Funny and good for the Soul

Delightful and uplifting stories of the redemptions of men women and love. Not many stories even speak of Anne Shirley, but she occasionally helps in the redemptions and is made reference to.. That fact takes nothing from the stories because they are filled with colorful characters that are every bit as endearing as Anne. The author skillfully accomplishes this in very short stories...Amazing!

I was a little distracted while listening…

I liked the easygoing plots of these stories, so I listened to them before bed. The humorous parts were cute to me since most of the stories were about middle-aged to elderly characters.

fun and cute short story collection

enjoyed all these great stories. some sweet, some funny, all entertaining. Anne Shirley mentioned in a handful of them. my tween, teens and mom and dad enjoyed these together. all are kind of stand alone short stories and are great for roadtrips, doing dishes, etc!

Grace Conlin is an amazing narrator …

For all the LM Montgomery books she narrates. Very easy to listen to and brings the characters to life.

Enjoyable Stories.. Poor Narration

This was so much fun, I didn't think I would like this much..
this book s a collection of 12 short stories than happens in Avonlea, and they follow random people and their lives and their dreams .. some stories were happy and some were bitter-sweet but none of them was sad .. Anne appears in only two stories and she appears to be 11 years old .. so it's safe to say that you can read it after the first book
my favorite story was Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's since it's hits so much close to home and that ending made me smile a wide smile .. really recommended for a light read :D

The narrator was the worst part of the book, she was really robotic and unfeeling that I struggled a lot to get into some of the stories, but the book made up for it

Slowing down life

Whenever I feel overwhelmed and too rushed, I put on L.M. Montgomery. Her writings always make the world slow down and make me appreciate life and relationships. In this fast paced world, it does a body good to just slow down and enjoy the flowers. Here is another flowers from that little island in Canada.

Still a firm favourite since a child!!

Beautifully read and terrific descriptions of the surroundings. All her books can be read or listened to over and over again, you never get tired of them.

Wonderful

These individual stories from Avonlea and it’s surroundings feature some old friends from Anne of Green Gables including Anne herself. The narrator, Grace Conlin has a lovely calm voice and reads beautifully. Highly recommended.
