Sintesi dell'editore
A car crash, a missing treasure, a dead thief, and a suspicious blond divorcée have feline P.I. Joe Grey and his four-legged cohorts clawing for justice in this lively new entry in the beloved, award-winning series.
Kate Osborne, a divorcée, reappears with a fortune and a strange story about how she obtained it. Meanwhile, a terrible car crash involves tortoiseshell Kit and her elderly housemates, Lucinda and Pedric Greenlaw. The accident is terrifying enough, but then two mysterious men steal the car - and the secret treasure hidden inside its doors. When one of the thieves ends up dead, Joe must discover if the events are connected - and why. With the investigation in trouble, will they find the killer…or be left chasing their tails?

Good
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I like the previous stories better. This one didn't have the fun adventure.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The story could have been good if I could actually tell where the author was trying to go with it.
Did Susan Boyce do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Maybe the movie would be better

Stolen Car and Hidden Treasures
Love this series, and book 18 is no exception! Pedric and Lucinda Greenlaw are on their way home to Molena Point from San Francisco when there is an accident and landslide near Santa Cruz. The Greenlaws Lincoln Town car goes off the road and the Greenlaws are seriously hurt and Kit prepares to go for help, but before she can, a pair of drifters attack Pedric and steal their car . . . hidden in the door panels are precious jewels. So Kit, Dulcie and Joe Grey have their work cut out for them searching for the car thieves and the Greenlaws' friends keep busy nursing them back to health. Kit meets Pan, who is looking for his father, Misto, and the two fall instantly in love. 😘 There's a lot going on, but its not hard to keep track of it all. All of our favorite characters are present, Max and Charlie Harper, Clyde and Ryan Damon and the Greenlaws. Great addition to the series!

Great as always.
All of the Joe Grey mysteries are wonderful. Susan Boyce does her usual stellar job in performing, and we are given a bit more exposition into the crew of usual characters with two new recent additions of talking cats.
I confess that this particular story line was harder to listen to than some. It was distressing listening to the murderer plotting a murder you knew was going to happen. It was a bit darker than most.

Gifted narrator
Susan Boyce, who does most of the narrations for the Joe Grey mysteries, does such a fabulous job.
The Joe Grey mysteries are such a charming series with well thought out cozy mysteries being solved by a team of speaking cats. I am currently enjoying the entire series again on audio.

Very scattered plot
I found it a bit annoying that all the characters knew a little of the overall story but didn't put it together until late in the book because they just didn't communicate (and I realise this was a deliberate plot device but the fact it was obvious was clumsy).
But the characters were charming as usual

I feel like I missed a book in between this one
As I love all these books, this was a winner again. Although I kept going back and making sure I was in the correct book in line. I feel like there should have been a book before this one, one about Kate's adventures.

Not for Me
I've listened to many Joe gray mysteries and love them all. however, this one I couldn't even listen to all of it. I fast forwarded to to the finish. If this was my first Joe Gray novel, I wouldn't be a fan. My reason for this is the dark theme of the novel. There was TMI, too much information, on what the killer was thinking, and the description of the violence. It was well written but a disappointment to me.

No more
This series started out as a light-hearted, whimsical and enjoyable series about crime solving talking cats. It has now evolved into a less enjoyable series, and even a bit irritating. It’s now more about the cats' antecedents, their emotional yo-yos, soul searchings, poetry writing …
Before, it was sit back and be entertained; no thinking required. Now I get irritating at the parts I consider extraneous and skip straight to the story.
Regrettably, I think this is my last Joe Grey mystery.
P.S. the illustrations keep getting Joe's tail wrong! It was amputated to stub size. Illustrations keep showing Joe with a full tail.
