Not the Narrator I would like.
i have nothing personally against the narrator. however, everyone in the story seems to either have a slow speach impediment or they are closely related to pepe' la' pewe. i have read all of Eddings books as far as i know. and this particular series is by far my favorite. i just was not happy with the narration. the only voice in the whole series that really seems to fit the character would be Beldin. he was done to perfection. i personnally feel as though this would be a great story to have done "dramatized" with an all star cast..
lol, feel free to contact me for voice recommendations. please do not misunderstand me, the narrator would was fine whenever he was reading the "narration", it is only the voices that ruined it for me.

One step closer...
As I said before I think Cameron Beirle consolidates his footing better and better with each novel. This is no exception. I noticed fewer and fewer inconsistencies with his narration, particularly in this installment.
Having regained the Orb of Aldur from Ctuchik, the now-vanquished disciple of Torak, Belgarion and his companions must escape from the crumbling city of Rak Cthol, pursued by the soldiers of the maniacal king of Cthol Murgos as well as by the sinister arts of the now-leaderless Grolim priests. Only then can they return the Orb to the Hall of the Rivan King, which Polgara reveals must be accomplished by Erastide. From there Belgarion must set out to meet a destiny beyond
his imagining.

Great books, not so great narrator
I love these books and re-read them often. I decided to purchase an audio copy so that I could multi-task. The narrator however, is very disappointing. He is decent for the narration, but his accents & pronunciations are inconsistent, he mispronounces words and his vowels (git instead of get, for example) are awful. With a better narrator I would give it 5 stars.

Unique Brilliance from Performer and Author
David Eddings character development is second to none, and his world building rivals the great authors of history. The combination of that with Beierle’s performance is nothing short of a masterpiece.

Four Stars
In a brilliant move, customers are now forced to write reviews if they want to rate books. This is a waste of time both for me and for whoever reads this.

Good enough - narrator is pretty good!
I must have been very young when I read these books because re-listening to the story it felt a little less magical and little more droll. People keep doing things to their beards “thoughtfully” and the princess is annoying- but it’s an addictive story and the narration keeps you well entertained. It was enough to keep me awake during an eight hour drive and I’m interested enough to download the final book.

Never gets old!
This is probably my 12th time listening to this after reading it several times as an adult and my initial introduction to it in highschool back in the 80's! I absolutely love it!

Fabulous books, horrific narrator
I am continuing to buy this series simply because it’s a trip down memory lane with some beloved books, but I do so in spite of the narrator not because of him. I said this on book one and I will keep saying it - where did you find this guy?! His accents are appalling, characters accents veer wildly across the world often mid sentence and he can’t even pronounce basic normal words, never mind the names of places in the book that are fiction. I can appreciate that fantasy place names are open to interpretation but one that really bugs me is his pronunciation of the capital of Nyissa - St-is-thiss Tor, he makes the pronunciation hard and spitting but surely considering they’re snake people it should be SssssThisssssas like a snakes rasp? His narration is just awful. Please re-release these books with a different narrator and I’d buy them all over again just to listen to them without cringing!

A tale of family
Why do I keep coming back to the Belgariad? because it has women who actually act like people. because it has emotional depth which always surprises me.
There are very few books in the genre where family is important, but this is one of them.

shame about the pronunciation
don't know if the a.erican version has different spellings for some names or if the narrator is using his own suggestions.

Come on, Cameron!
I'm beginning to wonder if the voice actor on this just wasn't given enough time with the scripts. Fiddle penyang.

Cameron Belerle is great narrator
I am surprised why some people have chosen to given Cameron a low score. I am now about to listen to Book 5 and Books 1-4 of the Belgariad have been brilliant. Of course there will be odd words and phrases that can trip anyone. He has gone a good job with the characters and got the speech/tonality just right.
I have really enjoyed this series and look forward to listen to the Mallorean with the same narrator.

Great book and narration, choppy audio
Book is amazing. Story is told with wonderful narration but there are moments where the audio cuts and words are skipped or chapter markers don’t align with the audio. A few sentences of one chapter will be found at the start of the next chapter. Needs some touching up if possible.

Great book, poor narrator
One of my favourite series of books, which I read over and over in the past. In the last 10 years I've not been able to hold books and annoyingly this series isn't in kindle format. The narration for the series was annoying with the mispronounced words and names plus the voices. Fortunately for my sanity the story came through as well and as enjoyable as when I read the books.
