Sintesi dell'editore

First published in three separate volumes from 1855 to 1863, Bulfinch's Mythology quickly became the standard source of classic tales from ancient Greece and Rome, the Norse tradition, and beyond. This edition contains the full text of The Age of Fable, or Stories of Gods and Heroes, the first volume of Bulfinch's seminal work. From stories of the Greek gods of Mt. Olympus to retellings of the Iliad and the Odyssey, from descriptions of mythological monsters to tales of Hindu and Egyptian deities, Bulfinch's versions of these classic stories bring their characters to life.

Throughout the text, Bulfinch includes examples of literary interpretations of and allusions to the various stories and points out proverbial expressions that have their origins in the mythology he relates, making this a vital reference for students of literature as well as a delightfully vibrant collection of the stories that form our cultural heritage.

new stories, and covers alot.

the narrator was okay I didn't like the way he pronounce the few names but I don't think I should down him entirely for that. there were stories I had never heard before even though I've listened to many mythological books. I like the north myth part at the end it's not as comprehensive. but I would say this is a book that covers everything in Greek some Egyptian, Norse myths. I probably listen to it again on a ride if I just wanted to hear mythology

its ok

I like that it includes most of the stories, but its mostly summarised. I also don't like the tone of the author towards the ancient texts, as if they were silly and savage.

I love mythology and Bullfinches stories are great

I love mythology, but Jonathan Cowley is droll as a reader. I just couldn't complete the book with him as the reader.

Very informative

I really enjoyed this book. Explained all the ancient stories and myths. Was truly a pleasure to listen to.

Dreadful narration

The book would be very interesting but for the pathetic and amateurish narration. The narrator does not appear to be able to read.
