A proposito di questo titolo

At 11:21 pm on Friday 28 February 1986, Olof Palme and his wife Lisbeth were walking home from the cinema along Sveavägen in Stockholm. He'd sent his bodyguards home that afternoon.

A man stepped up behind the prime minister of Sweden and fired. In the 40 years since, no conviction for killing him has ever stood.

More than 25 witnesses saw something. The gunman jogged east into Tunnelgatan, climbed a flight of steps to the quieter road above, paused for a split second at the top, and was gone.

What followed grew into one of the largest murder inquiries in the world: roughly 700,000 pages of files, more than 350 million kronor spent, a first suspect released within weeks, a foreign plot that led nowhere, a trial and an acquittal on appeal.

The corner of Sveavägen and Tunnelgatan is still there. A small bronze plaque, laid into the pavement in 1994, marks the spot. People still leave roses on it. A few minutes' walk up the street, Olof and Lisbeth Palme are buried together in the churchyard of Adolf Fredrik Church — the same white church they walked past that night on their way to the cinema.
