In this episode, Alex and James talk with special guest: Occupational Therapist Chloe May - to dissect the grey areas of scope of practice in the chronic pain and community neuro-rehab spaces.
While all Allied Health clinicians have clearly defined scopes of practice, we dig deeper to talk through:
- The challenges of overlapping roles that can occur between Physiotherapists, OTs, Psychologists, Carers and Social Workers in the community.
- The moral dilemmas faced when asked to complete services that sit within our traditional scopes, but don’t best support the client’s long-term needs.
- Knowing when to seek support and when to refer on.
In this supervision session, we bring two clients to the table to unpack some of the complexities of scope of practice - to help us determine what went well, and where we could improve.
