A cemetery with a troubled past. A murder that went unsolved for decades. And witnesses who claimed the dead had returned. On May 2nd, 1985, the body of sixty-one-year-old Dorothy Lou Thompson was discovered in the Mississippi River in Louisiana, bound with chains. Dorothy owned a pet cemetery outside New Orleans, where a bitter dispute over the ownership of the land had been unfolding. Investigators identified a suspect, but without sufficient evidence, the case went cold. Then, twenty-four years later, a witness came forward with an extraordinary claim. He said he knew who had killed Dorothy. And he believed her ghost had been haunting him. In 2012, another witness emerged, claiming to have seen the murder take place. In this four-chapter Halloween Special, True Crime Now examines Dorothy's troubled past, the battle for her cemetery, the investigation that remained unresolved for nearly thirty years, and the disturbing accounts that eventually helped bring a killer to justice. Did Dorothy's ghost help solve her own murder? Or did guilt and fear finally persuade the living to speak?
