Mod Sun is a singer, songwriter, producer and author who has written with Avril Lavigne, Machine Gun Kelly, Travis Barker and Steve Aoki. He joins Tish and Kelsey on the mic to reflect on the pivotal moments that changed his path. From his harrowing battle with addiction to the Japanese philosophy that helps him find beauty in his scars, this episode goes deeeep right away. Mod opens up about the overdose that gave him what he calls a second lease on life, the dad he loved and ended up parenting, and the drink he grabbed at a friend’s funeral that put him in bed for three weeks. He also explains kintsugi, the Japanese art of putting shattered pottery back together with gold, and y’all, it is the best thing anyone has said on this show about being broken. They also get into the pressure of the music industry, his lasting respect for Hannah Beth, and why he’s finally found the inner peace he was searching for. Mod gives us all permission to embrace getting older and staying true to our own artistic vision, no matter what!
