Some leadership decisions give you time.
Others give you ten seconds.
In this episode of Before the Pressure, Dr. Arnold Sanchez explores what happens when leaders must act before they have perfect information, complete clarity, or time to build a full plan.
The goal is not to eliminate pressure. It is to build a response that is less accidental when pressure arrives.
In This Episode
- Why split-second decisions are usually built long before the moment arrives
- How pressure can narrow judgment and create reckless action
- The three questions that can simplify a fast decision
- Why leaders should identify what must be protected first
- How to avoid irreversible mistakes under pressure
- Why the next stabilizing move matters more than the perfect solution
- How one breath can interrupt a bad reaction
Today’s Pressure Prep
Before your day gets moving, choose one situation where you may have to make a fast decision.
Ask:
What must I protect?
What irreversible move should I avoid?
What would the next stabilizing action be?
Then, if the moment comes—
take one breath.
And move.
Reflection
When I have only seconds to decide, what does my leadership default to?
Emotion?
Speed?
Avoidance?
Or preparation?
Remember:
The split-second decision is usually built long before the split second arrives.
And:
The pressure moment is not the best time to invent your leadership.
Know what matters. Protect what cannot be recovered. Make the next stabilizing move. Then reassess.
