In this episode of the Veterinary AI Brief, hosts Robert Sanchez (co-founder and CEO of Digital Empathy) and Dr. Adam Little catch up after a month off and cover two fast-moving stories.First, they look at the recent wave of security vulnerabilities. The hosts say open-weight AI models are now strong enough, and cheap enough to run, that attackers can scan for weak sites and hit them at scale. They discuss the PHP zero-day, which affects WordPress sites, and the reported Quest Diagnostics breach. They also cover what practices can do about it today.Second, they discuss the rise of always-on personal AI assistants, such as ChatGPT's Dots, Grokbot, Instinct and Muse. They talk about how these tools help individuals, and what happens when pet owners' AI agents start emailing, calling, booking and complaining on their behalf. They end with how practices can prepare.Resources Robert plans to share in the episode post: a screen-share chart of the exponential growth in vulnerabilities, and a free "Tripwire" template. The template inventories your systems, scans for relevant attacks every half hour, and flags or fixes issues. Safeguards have been stripped from models that run locally, so attackers use agents to find vulnerable targets rather than choose them. Text your developer today. Ask whether your site is patched against the PHP vulnerability, what PHP version it runs, and whether anyone has checked for backdoors. Robert says about 40% of sites run a PHP version that will never get a fix. Harden the basics. Use unique passwords and two-factor authentication. Set a safety word with family, since voice cloning is now convincing. Use AI as your defense. Ask Claude to interview you about your systems and flag what's vulnerable. Robert's Tripwire bot does this on a schedule. AI agents are your new clients. Reservation platforms like Resi are already seeing bots hit them hundreds of times an hour. Clinics will see more AI-drafted complaints, calls, record requests and pricing queries. Hard-to-use booking, intake and pricing will frustrate agents, and agents don't give up. Get hands-on now. Try a proactive assistant, give it your context, and learn what it can and can't do. Robert expects that no practice will be able to stay non-agentic within about two years.
