Carrie shower scene breakdown from intimacy coordinators: first periods, body horror, the male gaze, and a whole lot of plasma.

An intimacy coordinator's take on nudity, vulnerability, bullying, and how the same iconic scene has changed over 50 years.

This week, we're breaking down the infamous shower scene from Carrie (1976), the 2013 remake, and the 2026 Netflix series. We're talking period representation, actor boundaries, modesty garments, camera work, the male gaze, and how each version uses nudity, vulnerability, and body horror to tell a different story about young women and their bodies.

Plus: we put the 1976 and 2026 versions through the Spice Scale and even we were surprised by the grades!
