In this episode, we hear from Cameron Neylon, a researcher who was Professor at Curtin University until 2024, and Professor Gemma Derrick from the School of Education at the University of Bristol. Bringing the perspectives of two leading researchers in research culture and research evaluation, Cameron and Gemma explore how research culture is understood and how it relates to ideas of research excellence.
They reflect on COMET's findings in light of lessons from the Australian and UK research assessment systems, and consider how universities can create cultures of learning that support experimentation, evaluation, and more evidence-informed approaches to research culture change.
The podcast is hosted by Lizzie Ville, Research Associate at the University of Bristol, who works on the COMET project. This project is funded by the Wellcome Trust.
