Why does Alcoholics Anonymous maintain a Reserve Fund, and how does it help protect the Fellowship's essential services?

Billy N. of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a former member of the A.A. General Service Board of Trustees, presents “History and Purpose of the Reserve Fund,” exploring the origins, responsibilities, and spiritual principles behind this important part of Alcoholics Anonymous' General Service structure.

Established in 1954, the General Service Board Reserve Fund was created to help ensure the continuity of essential A.A. services during financial emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

But its purpose goes beyond financial security.

The Reserve Fund reflects A.A.'s commitment to self-support, prudent financial stewardship, accountability, and maintaining the services that help carry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers.

With his firsthand experience in General Service, Billy brings an informed perspective to a subject that connects the practical responsibilities of the General Service Board with the spiritual principles of the Seventh Tradition.

This presentation is particularly relevant to G.S.R.s, D.C.M.s, area officers, trusted servants, and anyone interested in understanding how Alcoholics Anonymous supports and protects its worldwide services.
