Jon Gelatt, co-owner of the Rivoli Theatre, in studio to preview Schlocktoberfest V, plus talk about how we're not really making great horror movie villains anymore.
Schlocktoberfest was crowdsourced this year, with Rivoli Cult members voting out of a group of 30 movies. We preview the Saturday B-horror movie marathon that runs from 1 p.m. through 9 p.m. — the last movie of which is a surprise.
Gelatt also talks horror villains and how we're due for the next Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Chucky or Jason — but instead get remakes of remakes.
This is year five of Schlocktoberfest and Gelatt said they're making it three days, and have their own fest beer. They'll be tapping the Schlocktoberfest keg on Friday night, before the marathon Saturday, plus a short movie mini marathon on Sunday.
