An investigated NetScaler compromise reached root access and installed several layers of persistence. Attackers used web shells, boot hooks, scheduled tasks, outbound command channels, and internal tunnels designed to survive reboots. From the appliance, they mapped D N S, directory, management, and VMware vCenter infrastructure.
Key context: For leaders, the concern is that an application delivery appliance can become a bridge into identity, management, and virtualization systems.
